Does anyone know of an easy way to install the rear hold down springs. The park brake levers make it a miserable job. I had a heck of a time with stretched out springs but I finally got some new ones and I'm not sure what kind of a tool to buy/make for the job.I'm sure I'll have a few bashed knuckles when I'm done no matter what though.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Wally

Headlight spring tool is what I use definitely a PIA

I don't like the pliers but this dud uses the other ends like the tool I posted has.

Total PIA to get on. I use the headlight tool from the back of the backing plate and pull them through and clip the tab on. All the others that mopar made has the normal ones. These absolutely suck!

What kind of screwed up brakes does 64 have? Not normal Bendix apparently.

I wonder if you can switch to the regular Bendix type with the pin, spring, and retainer?

Prob can with no issues. I have no idea why they did that. Think it is a 9" thing just 64 and 65. I want my car close to oem so I am using them.

Thanks for all the quick replies folks. Halifaxhops, I've never seen a tool like that but it sure looks like the way to go. I don't think it's worth it to me to buy one since I would only use it maybe once in ten years but I think I can make something similar. I was able to make two tabs by manipulating strips of sheet metal with several tools and a vise, only about 15 minutes each.
Well thanks again people. I'll let you know how I make out. I might not get to it till spring though.
