Looking for a new (or rebuilt) Saginaw PS pump for my 67 Barracuda with a 318. Seems like 1967 and 68 must have something different - I never see them listed. 1969’s are.

So, what is different?

I thought that Mopar used the Federal and the Saginaw, I did not think they were any differences between them. Maybe how they are mounted.

I believe 1967 at least used a Federal pump (that is what was on my 1967 Barracuda). The TRW pump is the same thing. Saginaw takes different brackets and a different pulley (I know this because I installed a Saginaw pump as a replacement). About the listings, Mopar kind of screwed-up the replacement parts market sometime in the late 70s. They superseded a bunch of part numbers and failed to cross reference them correctly. So there are many parts, especially brake parts, for 67 and to some extent 68, that are not correctly listed, even though the part is still being manufactured for other applications. A little detective work is often required.

Yes, '67&'68 used Federal or TRW which are close to the same. '69 and later may have the Saginaw which is very different as it uses different brackets and hoses but can be made to work.

Pressure port location is different - Saginaw comes out the back, Federal/TRW comes out the side. I know a clearance issue on 70-72 A k-members necessitated the Federal pump. That said the internals are different and the two pumps have different bracket set-ups. Saginaws are readily available and you could get on Chryslers + GMs through the 80s that are the same basic pump with minor variations that shouldn't affect compatibility. Good luck finding a rebuilt Federal.

Our 67 cuda has aTRW. Mounts for 67 are different. Heres a chart, there is another one with 3 pumps on it.

Both of my 67 B'cudas had Saginaw pumps. One a 225, other a 273. Oval neck, small cap with 2 little finger bumps on it. That OEM cap is a tough find. So maybe Dodge didn't use Saginaw but Plymouth did.
I bought another Saginaw pump from ebay seller that was yellow paint marked 67 383. Its brackets and pulley are identical to the 273. Maybe it was marked wrong?

One more thing to think about. The Saginaw pump is better able to handle quick steering inputs. The Federal struggles on quick left-rights (autocross, mountain roads). That's why I changed from a Federal to a Saginaw on my 67 Barracuda (that and I bent the pulley which is not available).
