I need some help finding the correct fastener to attached hood hinges on my Demon's. They attached with a push on washer which I simply cut off when I tore the car down. I've measured the locating pins and tried getting them at hardware store, but they all I could find was larger or smaller.

Does anyone know the correct size or where I can get them?

Thanks!

No they are not.... Not sure what that has to do with anything regarding a source for the retaining washer... but they are not on the car.

There nothing fancy, just a push nut stud, should be all kinds at the local hardware store in the nuts and bolts section.

I thought so too... the sizes I keep finding locally (home depot, lowes, ace, napa, pep boys) all are either slightly too big to clamp good or too small to fit over the mounting point... Figured I would try to get a size from someone on the board that worked for them.

I've seen them on Ebay for like $20 a set, but no size listed.

Worse comes to worse you could slide a thin washer on the stud then drill a small hole for a cotter pin.....unless you're going all original????

Ok, you answered my question. Fenders are off. My thought was just as in post # 8.
I am about to try this with the fenders ON. I have a new 12" x 1/8 drill bit, but have not yet removed the splash shields to see my future job.
I am going to try to put on a set of light weight hinges for my glass hood with the fenders on.

Take the splash shields off.
Go down to the hardware store and snag a couple of "push nuts" I don't recall the size
Out one on the stud and take a socket that fits the outside shape, and then with a hammer you can tap it on.

I've done this multiple times on my 70 dart. The fenders don't need to come off.

Agreed...not hard... but what I am asking for is the size of the “push on nut washer”

I know how to install them... prob is local hardware place does have any sizes that fit... hence why I need the size.

I bought the push clips that were supposed to be the right ones, but they were flimsy. Didn't seem to hold the hinge like it should. I have heard horror stories about the hinges coming off, and tearing up the paint. I cross drilled the pins, and used washers to shim it tight, and used a cotter pin. Way more secure.

Drill a hole as stated and use a washer and cotter pin. I do this on cars to tighten the hinges up to prevent them from rubbing the fenders. you can stack washers and shims to tighten them up. They will not push off and loosen like the clips. Ever notice the seam sealer around the hinges by those clips from the factory. Wonder why?
