Is this the wrong K member for this 318 71 Demon? If you see anything else major, shout it out please.

That triangular pan on the bottom is a skid plate? Is this later member a bad thing?

If your not worried about being the "correct" thing then I think it's an upgrade. Better motor mounts, upper ball joints, brakes, etc.
I have the same setup in my 72.

Some guys on here don't like the newer spool mounts. I thought they were supposed to be better. Just getting pillow mounts anymore is tough, and the spools are not that easy, either

Your A arms have to have different tabs for the anti-roll bar for that K vs the one that "belongs" in the car.

I like the spool mount especially with a 4-spd. Getting hard to find good quality biscuit mounts these days. A couple good burnouts will rip apart most of todays crappy mounts on the left side. Ploylocks are getting harder to find. SB spool mounts are available and can easily get poly inserts. Will never break one of those. Maybe with supermega horsepower.

Anyone know where to find a 1971 A body K-member? Found one on Ebay but dont know if the person is reputable.

Just got back from the shop. They couldnt install the new radiator because the engine was too forward, and the mechanic showed me how the previous owner cut the original mounts and moved them forward, and added spacers and even used bolt nuts as spacers. So, shop either cuts and re-welds mounts, or buy a new K-member to get it right.

I can't see the mount towers on the frame well enough to see if anything was changed. I can see the spacers that are moving the motor forward.
I have a couple 68-72 K-frames BUT if you go back to that you will also need the 68-72 center link, idler arm and steering arm. You can use the 73 lower control arms but not the sway bar.
Will also need the 67-72 motor mounting brackets, biscuit style.
Can use your upper control arms, spindles and brakes.
Probably not what you wanted to hear

Trying to understand what the installer was trying to achieve.
Did you get a shot of the tranny mount?

No. I forgot. By that time, The mech and I decided it would just be better to get the right K member, so as to not have to customize so much, shiet and stay straight. We noticed a few more things that need to be corrected. Nothing major, just time consuming and DAMN, 71 Mopar stuff is hard to find.

I believe that you have a DC k-member in there and somebody spaced the mounts to get the small block in there. I don't like their "fix", but if you got a stock small block 73-76 k-member you could sell that for at least as much as the small block one costs. Or trade somebody. Here's a stock small block unit before I made a DC k-member out of it. Specifically look at the saddle in reference to the hole in the support that the saddle is welded to.

Jim I was kind of thinking the same.
For the OP, the DC frame was to fit a big block into an A body. Might be easier to find another 73-76 frame.

Yep, I absolutely HATE the spool mounts. You have no way to move the engine even a skosh if you need to, Poly engine mounts aren’t much better than rubber and it’s a PITA just to set the engine in the chassis and get the bolts started.

When I had my engine out last time I was going to ditch the spool mounts but I couldn’t find a 67-72 k member.

The engine is out now, and it’s not going back in with the spool mounts.

Stick or not, they drive better with solid mounts, but especially with a stick they are far better.
