Hi all!
Im racing 440 barracuda with 14:1 compression and im switching from race fuel to e85. Just ran 10.62 on 1/4 with 125mp/h last weekend on gas. Im going to use E85 carb that is a holley 4150 1000cfm and holley black fuel pump. Anyone has ideas of jets and tuning/powervalve to get it running? I bought carb used and it now has way too much jets in it. I am going to finetune it in dyno, just want to get it running first. I live outside the us and here is not too many dynoplaces to take the whole car, mostly just engines.
Thank you.

I'd look on the holley site or catalog for jetting set up for an E85 carb that is the same.

Power valve, going to take some work if you street drive it. If not, throw a 6.5-8.5 in it.

I would suggest getting an e85 conversion kit for the carb. I got mine from Rob mix years ago (it worked fine for me). It came with metering blocks, gaskets, squirters, and baseline jetting for the carb (I ended up using quite a bit more jet than they suggested). If you contact them (or any other reputable e85 carb company) they can get your the right parts.

My setup needed some tuning, but it was close enough for me to get the rest right. I will say, you need to invest in a wideband O2 sensor to help tune it, because e85 burns so clean it is very difficult to read the plugs.

In addition to the Holley black pump, don't forget to get rid of any paper fuel filters (need to switch to steel mesh style).

Good luck, and enjoy.

Edit: You may also need larger boosters....just FYI.

Thanks for the good tips! Carb is already made for e85 by apd racing and it is almost brand new, previous owner only used it in dyno and he said it was too small for him. Jets right now are close to 200. I also have aeromotive w stainless steel filter elements and innovate dual 02 sensors installed and working. I'll check holley site for those jets. Car is 68 barracuda and used for dragracing only. Dont want to spend too much money on the dyno and rawtune it myself and i may have a possibility to go on the track too but not on a public road.

If your are using the car for drag racing only, do away with the power valve & put a block off plug in it if it doesn't already have one. If the carburetor has been sitting, I would invest in a set of bowl & metering plate gaskets before I tried to put fuel through it.

We use Holley 950 e85 carbs. Stock is 88 with power valve in primary....98 in rear no power valve.

200 jet?.....might be alcohol jets.

Yeah, 200 sounds like methanol jetting. I have one of my e85 carbs square jetting with 98's, the other is 90/102 (I was missing my 100's otherwise I would been 90/100).

Maybe contact Eric Niefert. He owns Horsepower Innovations. He eat, sleeps, and breaths E85. Mark Sullens may be another good one to contact.

Have a new problem, jet thread size on the the metering block is 5/16-32 and all those alcohol jets are too big for me and gasoline jet thread is 1/4-32.

That would be another red flag that says this is not an e85 carb, that is an "alcohol" carb (methanol specifically). Unless you are like me and don't mind building a carb from scratch, I would stop and get a complete e85 carb from a reputable company. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the help guys.

They finally replied me from the apd: Looks like an alcohol1040 cfm 4150 carb. Originally left us with 177 main jets, .026 high speed bleed, and .059 idle bleed.

So need to order some new metering blocks.

Every circuit in that carb is designed to deliver twice the volume, of E85.

So 2 circuit metering blocks and its good to go?
Sullens said those alcohol blocks are 3 circuit and they would not even work on that 2 circuit carb. I have asked from apd racing if they have a conversion kit, but havent been asnwered yet.
