The create engines have routinely dyno'd at 410+ every time. Do keep in mind that they have a 9.0-1 comp ratio and stock Magnum heads minus the springs to work with the cam. It is a really nice platform to go from.

Now think what the head could be with a capable porter and a slight milling. A few guys here were/are running them in Dusters to low 12's with the create engine OOTB and 11's when the car is put on a weight loose program.

They detail what it took to get 409 HP with a Magnum 380 crate. Keep in mind they are also running a pretty good single plane, with a 750 Mighty Demon. Demons are great carbs on the dyno. That being said they are a great engine especially when yoiu consider the amount of production OEM parts used. J.Rob
 
I read that. Before I posted. Now I'm thinking I missed a talk about the create engine (360-380)
What did I miss?
 
I just went through it again and fail to see a MoPar create engine enhancement via head porting. That was what I was talking about, quite plainly in the above post.
I made no mention of your porting work on the heads, of the/your heads on that engine or the create engine.

What is it your trying to say/convey?
 
...that if mildly ported magnums were installed on a crate 380hp engine, there would be a notable power increase?:scratch:

I'm merely trying to say that porting the heads was a must to approach the power of a crate with a dual-plane and mild cam. I thought you were saying that I should have ported the heads is all. J.Rob

No no no no, I'm diggin the build thread man. I was just saying about the create engine. Porting and milling the heads there is the only option, besides a cam change that would really net a noticeable amount of power.
 
The 360 magnum pistons limit what you can do with one. But ported heads and the correct cam really wake them up.
 
Its been awhile since I've posted anything useful or remotely interesting. I recently acquired a 360 Magnum core that once resided in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, at least that's what the guy I bought it from told me. I never say no to a 360 core if its the right price and not too far gone. So after sitting on it awhile trying to figure out what to do with it I've finally settled on a plan.

The plan is to build a really nice mild street engine on a fairly tight budget using as many of the OEM parts as possible. The goals are maximum bang for the buck on Canadian pump gas whether it is 87-91 octane also keeping an eye toward excellent street manners (driveability) . I would rate this one as 99.5% street .5% strip. Truthfully I don't know what to expect as far as HP production goes but I feel 360-380hp and a ton of off idle and midrange torque is fair to expect.

I ended up with a bit different cam than your build, it’s still a lunati roller part number 20200212... one thing I learned is roller cams are not cheap in Canada

Love their High efficiency line. I still get calls from the guy who bought this engine and he tells me how crazy fast his Mirada is with it. Him and his brother report the torque is really impressive. J.Rob
 
Yeah I’m hopeful that it will be a nice street engine, looking at putting a 5 speed stick in the car and I hope the engine will have that nice bottom end torque where you can just let out the clutch without feathering the gas...

Create Engine (pron. KrE Ate)... an engine you build after giving careful thought & planning to cam, rod, crank, and top end.
To add to the confusion too, I hear there are two types of folks here
There are folks here that create their engines, and quite a few that order their crate engines, but they’re quiet about it
I need a nap now

J Rob.....a little late to the game but I was searching the forums and this sounds like just what I was looking for. Car is a 3600# pro tour street driver set-up with AC/PS. 2500 stall 904 and 3.55 gears but may go 4.10 with 518. I have a low mileage 360 Magnum apart. Keeping bottom end stock (replacing main bearings and hone) adding small valve EQ's with comp springs, Crosswinds intake and 600 carb (maybe Holley EFI). Thinking of decking the block with pistons .015 in hole (now .050) and .024 head gasket. Would probably use different cam. What does your crystal ball say about cam selection for similar results?

I have the same cam as the original poster, sitting on the shelf just waiting to go into my 5.9. Just dont want to pull it apart right now, probably wait till fall/winter now.

We have been running a cheap copy of it for over a year, it's a hoss!!!
 
@RAMM would you recommend this cam for a bone stock 5.9 magnum longblock with a Chinese airgap? Or would you recommend something else? I was looking at heads last night and I wouldn’t be apposed to putting a set of speedmaster aluminum heads on in the future but that’d probably be a year or two down the road.
