Wonder if anybody has had chroming done in Northern Ca. or Nevada. We're investigating
several shops. Sherm's in Sacramento is good, but super expensive. Has anybody had
pot metal pieces re-chromed, and what was the result? I've seen the results of pot metal
chroming gone bad. Just looking for a place that does quality work and charges a reasonable
price.

Ogden chrome in Utah

Have lived here all my life and tried them all. Sherm's is the best in Cali. Am not impressed with Ogden. If you want good chrome you must get out of this state- too many restrictions here. Just lost the last plater in San Jose two years ago. If you want good chrome, you must pay for it. I use Paul's plating in Pennsylvania. They are not cheap but does the best chrome I have seen.

I got a quote from Ogden back in March of this year, for their “street chrome”, for my Hemi valve covers. They quoted me $650 for each valve cover and $750 for a 3x2 carb base/intake. Sherm’s quoted me $375 per cover.

I live 20 mins from Ogden Chrome, I wouldn’t use them, they cost too much for the lack of quality work they do.

I'm always amazed when I see the chrome plating that the TV shows get. Iron Resurrection has someone who does really nice chrome for them. I looked last year for a chrome shop and came up empty. One guy in CA said he could do some chrome work for me but all he did was ruin the parts. I'm tempted to say that nobody does good chrome work anymore but there must be someone doing it somewhere since once in awhile I'll see some good chrome work.

I can get new parts chrome plated any day of the week. It is the old stuff that needs to be stripped, straightened and rechromed that is impossible.

I heard there’s some great chrome shops in Mexico.

I will give an update When I receive them back.I recently took front and rear bumpers from a 1969 charger to Sherms. I frenched in the bumpers They will be straitened and finished tig welding and miner dents pulled my quotes was with bumperets 4500.00 but i wanted to keep the originals.

None of the above just a car that’s been in the family before i was born and I’m really just wanted to keep all original parts a lot of customizing and many parts sent out to get redone that would halve been cheaper to buy repop
