heres an engine you dont see every day...

When I see people that excited about how great their vehicle is, I figure, "maybe they should just keep it"

And at least he didn't say "absolutely zero rust except 3 small holes in the roof and rear quarters"

Couldda been like the Volkswagen V6 with one head.

the VR6 ?
that was technically an off set inline V6 to save space
(almost like a different spin on a slant 6)

in a true V, there are 2 cylinders opposing themselves (offset by just the width of the rods)
in the VR engines, the cylinders are offset so they fit closes together

this creates a 6 cylinder engine that is narrower then a V6 (though longer) and shorter then an inline 6 (though longer)

i think the main reason was to fit an 6 cylinder into an engine bay designed for a 4 banger...pretty lofty goal, if you ask me

(pic stolen from wiki, which is why it compares an inline 4, instead of an inline 6)

IIRC they had a VR8 and a VR 12 too.

Volkswagen markets it as a V6. They are unusual for sure.
