I'm fixing to junk an 85 318 with 302 heads. Are the heads worth saving? Do people want these heads? Shipping would be around 140-160.00 on them so is that a deal killer?
Thanks

People still want them, but it depends on the shape of the head (ie no cracks) and what you're asking for them plus shipping. I have a set that had 3 or 4 exhaust seats cracked so I had them replaced. You might sell the whole engine together instead unless it is complete junk.

The motor is worn out and smokes. It is in one of my trucks. Started it up a couples weeks ago and the timing chain shelled out bending several push rods so I don't know if it bent any valves. The block does have the bosses for the rolling cam girdle.

But it's not a roller cam engine?

Here are some of the pushrods. 2 are bent so bad that I can't get them out.

Swirl port heads are good for 273s and 318s. I’d hang on to them.

I bought a remanned set of 302's from Rock Auto, and have a set laying in the garage floor to send back as cores. I have cleaned between every pair of valves, and there's no cracks visible. I'm almost wanting to keep them and eat the core charge because they look so decent!
