So I just picked up a 360 engine that came out of an rv. Noticed the pan seems to have the hump of the pan and the opposite position of what the 318’s was. What oil pan do I need to put this engine in 71 dart that used to have a 318? Would I be able to use my 318’s pan?

no, a 360 has a larger (correction: SMALLER...thanks Locomotion! ) rear opening. 360 only. Any chrome 360 car pan will do, maybe a little ding where the idler arm is.....

You all got that backwards. A 360 has a smaller seal at the rear. A 273/318/340 pan has the same, larger seal at both ends. The OP needs a "car" oil pan and pick-up which has the sump towards the front (basically between the middle & front) because the 360 he got has a rear sump used truck/RV applications.

This is a 360 pan for car applications.

Yup, you need a 360 car pan. Depending on which one you get, you can probably reuse your 318 pickup, dip stick, and tube.

I ended up getting the milodon stock replacement one from JEGS

chuckle, your absolutely right! Been down that road so many times I just got them backwards. I remember looking for a rear spacer from Hamburger or someone that would allow you to use a 318 pan on a 360 as the blocks usually get swapped and it leaves the swapper with a unuseable pan! I had one 360 chrome pan from Mr Gasket that would not clear an HV oil pump.

Your answer is a stock pan from a 1974 360 challenger. All the problems will be solved. :) And use the pick tube from a 1974.
