Thinking maybe will be replacing my Grandson 66 Dart 6 cylinder and replacing with a 68 340. So question is what all will i need to make this happen.

Here goes : v-8 motor mount brackets , v-8 center steering link , v-8 throttle cable , v-8 tranny , v-8 T-bars (optional) , v-8radiator , v-8k k.d. link . Go get'm !

Center link is the tough one.
-Schumacher makes (or made) motor mounts.
-Aftermarket radiators are available.
-Aftermarket pedal and throttle cable if you’re inclined or can’t find the factory V8 one.
-same for t-bars

the good news is the k-frame is the same for both slant and small block.

Wow almost need a complete donor.
Some of these parts are hard to come by so you may want to post an ad in the Wanted section. If you found an inexpensive v8 doner car you could sell the remnants here.

I would add that you need that engine complete, with all the brackets and pulleys too, air cleaner to pan. Also, gas pedal and bell crank assembly, complete exhaust system that will work with a 340 in that small engine compartment, and after that, you'll probably want to upgrade the brakes and rear axle to heavier duty stuff before that 340 gets you in trouble!

In my neck of the woods its usually around $10000 to do a correct /6 to 340 swap.

start searching for a pair of 64-66 A body 273 V8 motor mounts. only need to add a couple of washers when bolting up the one mount (I forget which engine side) & weld a small triangle piece onto the other mount (that info is posted somewhere here on FABO). A '66 & up V8 904 trans (for your rod type shifter linkage as opposed to the early cable shifted). the guys here have covered everything. the best manifolds are a 68-70 340 ex manifold on the passenger side & a '92/early '93 ex manifold on the drivers side. source a "392" center sump oil pan/pickup (middle one in pic).

On the early a-bodies isn't the center link the same for /6 and v8. The 2 66 darts I had the v8 and /6 were the same

No, the 6cyl and 8cyl ones are different. That doesn't mean that the factory didn't stick some on 6cyl cars by accident, or, if they temporarily ran out of the 6cyl ones. The 8cyl ones have a deeper drop for the oil pan, and they're slightly bigger in diameter.

Have you ever tried this manifold on the drivers side?

66 Originally was 3 on the tree I got a 66 cuda floor hump from a FABO member and it fit like a glove. Was automatic converted to a 3 speed floor shift from a 72 Duster works great but I do want to convert the 6 to a 340 I do have one lined up from a 68 Dart. 4 speed or automatic have not decided yet. Sounds like quite a bit to convert.

If you go four-speed call Brewers performance, they have lots of nice parts for the early a body cars if you decide to go with a 10 1/2 inch clutch that what I used on my car and fit was excellent.

I must admit that I have not, I take it that it is a no go? EDIT Ebay has 340/360 custom motor mounts for this (no mods needed) and V8 center drag links either one for 3+ bills

i think your talking about the k frame for the early a bodies, center links are different

Depending on what mounts you use, you may not need a V8 center link. I didn't on my 65 I put a 360 in. I used the Schumacher mounts. It was close, but it never hit.

At the hospital all night with the wife. Major neck problems may need some risky surgery. Ug but don’t want to highjack someone thread.

We'll sure add her to the prayer list.

Thank you. Just got back here. Had to go home and take care of the pups. Vertebrae in neck and they want to operate. C4 5 6. No really good chooses here. Came on gradually over about 10 days. Hard, arm and fingers. O poop. They are keeping her a few days and I guess we’ll see if it gets better or worse and go from there.
