Would like to get recommendations on where to send the AM radio from my 68 Dart for repair/upgrade to AM/FM. Hoping for a good job at a reasonable price. Thanks!!!

Aftermarket vendors do convert these original raios to modern head units with lots of bells and whistles but, it aint cheap. Many owners have found they still aren't exactly happy with it. The few knobs and/or buttons on the OEM unit need to be pushed several times to get to a particular function. I went a different route several years ago. Redesigned my rally dash so I could install any after market single D.I.N. head unit in the dash. The Kenwood head unit I choose has so many buttons that it isn't recommended for inflight use. I still struggle to get what I want out of it. I'm old too and don't carry/operate a cell phone. Is there any good news in my post?... YEP. A member here gutted the OEM radio and installed a inexpesive bluetooth piece from amazon in his OEM radio. I didn't click on a member refernces before but I know you can find some solution in this forum that will work for you. Happy moparing

Thank you! Was really hoping to keep the original appearance. I have presently installed an electronic gismo that takes four hands and a 6 year degree in electronics to operate and after it has been on for 15 minutes squeals like crazy. Totally a piece of junk. Plus it was a pita to install.

Unfortunately I do not do radio conversions. Just repairs and minor restorations.
I've heard a lot of good for retro sounds radios. I've also had good feedback on redi rad

I've sent two radios to Tayman Electrical stereo solutions for collector cars for conversion and I'm very happy with the results. I've also recommended him to others and they all are happy with the results. Not cheap, but worth it.

I use mine with my satellite radios and a thumb drive with some music I like on it.

Well, If you look at yesterdays dashes and compare them to modern dashes, driver comfort took priority over entertainment. Years later when D.I.N. (google it) began Chryslers two odd little windows did not work at all, while Ford, GM, VW, could be adapted whether it was above or below the climte controller. Wanna talk about PIA? I put over 2 years into designing a support that would accept any OEM climate controller and any "Walmart" D.I.N. head unit in the rally dash (67 to 71). To This day there are only 4. Not on a dime profit.
Bottom line... you're a mopar man. Get you a co-pilot with a cell phone and a bluetooth speaker. Turn the OEM AM radio off. Feck Chryslers OEM radio.

I ended up using a round gauge pod marine radio mounted under the dash with my other gauges. Another option I've seen a lot of members opt for is a bluetooth amp mounted under dash with smart phone/mp3 player.
