they are on the cover of a LA buildup mag i had for the 273! 1965 write up iirc. they had the end carbs left to right and the 2 middles inline with the heads...figure that linkage out! IR stacks with individual injectors is so much easier to manage.Someone here has one.
IR setups do not have plenums.......
Maybe you should have played a bit more with IR, you might have learned something...
"Too small a plenum kills top end". Post #28. The logical conclusion from that is NO plenum would reaaaaaaally kill the top end.
How does 702 Hp from 427 ci sound with four 58 IDA Weber carbs? NO plenum.
Reminds me of split rocker boxes on Ironheads and Shovels. ..Ahhh, I see said the blind man as he picked up his hammer . . and sawed.
Post #33. Curves & data are on p. 103 of DVs How to Make HP Vol2, SA books #52. Engine made 625+ ft/lbs of tq @ 5100 rpm. The 702 hp peak was made at about 6600 rpm, which makes NONSENSE of the claim in post #34 that no plenum kills top end power. It's about sizing the induction system to the engine size & reqd HP. Holley also knew this & made a 4500 carb [ # 6214 ] specifically made/calibrated for IR use; it had more total airflow, 1150 cfm, & larger venturiis than the other 4500s.
