1964 column.
I need to remove the wires from this connector so I can disassemble the column.
Using a couple of jewelers screwdrivers to probe from the front and back to hopefully disengage the metal connectors and slide them out. So far, no luck.

Anyone have any tips?

That's what I use to trigger the connectors. You need to bend the locking tabs slightly to allow them to come out. IIRC there is one on each side. Carefully rebend them back out again before you re-install them in the connector.

Oh, and trigger them from the inside, not the outside of the connector.

You have to bend the tangs on the side inward from the front, then slide the connector back outward

I got them out. Once I removed one it was clear how it was retained. Using the smallest jewelers screwdriver I bent the tangs on each side and the rest were easy. Maybe the picture will help someone in the future.

^^Thanks. I really dislike that particular connector design.

Doing this right now—did you bend the tangs from the back of the connector (where the wire is inserted)?

You insert the tiny screwdriver from the inside of the connector, like from the side in your first photo. The wire pulls out the back side once the "fish hook" on each side of the terminal is bent in toward each other slightly. Be gentile as you need to rebend them back out so they will lock into the connector again. Once you get the first one out, you'll see how they work.

Look at post#7, you can see the lock tabs clearly in that photo.

Awesome. I got it. Had been on the right track, but wasn’t that confident in the connector. Appreciate the help!
