Have a 72 dart with padded steering wheel. Popped the emblem off the middle but still have plastic covering the steering nut. There is 3 pieces if plastic that goes to center but does not want to pop off, acts like something is holding it. Looked behind wheel but didn't see any screws.

That 3 spoke center, where the emblem was mounted, pries off. Do it GENTLY as they can crack pretty easily after all these years. I like using a putty knife to spread the load. There's a clip on each "leg" that holds that piece to the wheel.

You'd probably go after the ends with a 90 degree pick, get under it, once one end is up the rest will follow suit. Or get it coming up with the 90 degree pick, then slide the "putty knife" type thing under and work it along, use a plastic putty knife if you can.Or wooden ruler metal will knick the vinyl plastic easily, the 90 degree pick may put small mark but that can be massaged out I would think

I actually use 2 putty knives along each side of the spokes toward the ends, but not at the very end.

Oh you can get under it? does it come off pretty easy once you get it going? it looks like it would, only thing is , like said its old now...

No guarantees when you start prying on old plastic. What other choice do you have if it needs to come off?

Used a putty knife and pick and popped right off, thanks for help. Went to put in new turn signal switch and the arm didn't fit very well. Noticed was made in taiwan. the old switch had metal cylinder inside plastic cylinder, new one was one piece plastic. The slot for arm was too small also. Does anybody make good replacement. I looked and only paid $24 for switch so not a big mistake

That plastic piece in our 73 Valiant had lost all of the snap tangs. It just laid in place, never went anywhere. Once in a while I would lift it off, hand it toward a passenger and say, "blow the horn". LOL

Mine came apart and looks good, tangs all in nice shape, and the horn worked fine

Scroll down to the bottom of this page. These turn signal switches are expensive but they are correct and not Chinese junk!

I looked at those but it says up to 71 and I have a 72. For $100 I would expect to get a plug and not just a bunch of loose wires. I picked up another switch and will let you know how it fits and works.
