My compressor needs rebuilding and I am unsure how to go about finding the correct rebuild kit for the pump .
It is a BelAir stand up .
Thanks ,

Just started yesterday . I turned it off right away . I had noticed it slowing up at first start up for a while now and anticipated the rebuild.

I have Googled rebuild kits for that model # but found nothing. I am not even sure if that is the pump model or the compressor model # .
Surely they offer rebuild kits just like A/C units and engines ?

I doubt it ...

Hmm. My owner's manual for my little Sanborn has a parts list. My owner's manual for my Industrial Air has a parts list. I would venture a guess that yours would also. As to you believing the compressor is dying, the part of your description that is throwing me is the statement that it is slowing down. I'd pull the belt(s), disconnect the discharge tubing and try rolling the compressor over by hand.

can't read the model #, is it 216 v ?

I redid my emglo dual stage v4 a few years ago, rings and all, found out once inside I had a bad valve, which were all included in the rebuild kit I got from a local compressor shop

pull the piston and just mic the OD and the ring thickness. Probably standard sized ring. The reed valve/plate may also be dirty. The eccentric bearing could be a sealed unit (rod bearing) cylinder could be floating. Depending on how cheap it really is, although it looks like a cast iron jug.

Mine was going VERY slow on startup. It would trip the breaker 8 outta 10 times. Turns out check valve inside was allowing air past, so theoretically was under psi to start. The hard starting eventually took out the "start" capacitor.
Approx $35 later for capacitor and valve, good to go!
Is my compressor shot?

I believe that company is still in business.

Just out of curiosity, what's the CFM rating? I can't read it.

Is that a single stage pump?

I have a model 338 that's been converted to 240 (from 3 phase).

It's been a damn good compressor, despite it's previous life in a body shop.

If it went South, I'd not think twice about rebuilding it.

I had a Compair/Kellog that I had to replace because I couldn’t find parts for it anywhere. Turns out it was a 2 year only model.

I always thought it was a single stage .
The cylinders look equal in size.
I drained the tank (of air) and started it again . It runs fine until the pressure starts to build to around 80 psi then it starts to slow up . It did not knock though ...which leads me to think Steve is on the right track and the valve is stocking .
That would be great if I dont have to do a rebuild.

Ah, your situation is clearer. Now it sounds like a motor problem. It looks like you have a capacitor start/capacitor run motor. I'd bet the run capacitor is going south on you.

I found a thread on another forum that referenced this company.

Factory Air Compressor Parts

They also said two different compressors were used- one has parts available, the other does not.

Your main body looks like mine, but with different cylinders (mine are 2 different sizes), so I hope ours are the ones with available parts.

Hmmm .. that is interesting . How do I address that ?

Read through this first. It should answer most of your questions.

This is interesting reading also.

My personal experience (on a limited number of motors) is that when the run capacitor fails (or is failing), the motor won't deliver full power, draws more current, and gets hotter than normal.
