The thread a few days ago about buying and selling cars hit home with me as it gives me stress even thinking about selling my car
If I could trust somebody and compensate them as a broker to sell my car id gladly do it.
Ive been tossing around the idea of finally at 70 buying my dream car for a few years now and if I dont do it now I never will.
I could swing it now without selling my present 69, but im to fiscal conservative and I do not have the garage space
This past week I saw a car id had like to look at, my banker left it up to me and my mine raced with how I would pull this off.... The car sold within two days of advertised.
Im friendly and honest to a fault but I do not have much patience for buyers who are asshole's and think they can get over
So my question is to you guys who are much more experienced at this is whats the best venue to sell a classic? How do you arrange payment, my biggest concern? What about buyers inspection, id insist on buyers inspection, I want the buyer to go over this car with a fine toothed comb and I will be a hundred percent honest with any buyer.
Thoughts? Thanks

I am much better at buying than selling!!!
You are in the highly populated NE and I am 1200 m away. Locationis like the R/E business selling cars too. But here are a few of my thoughts. The price of cars dictate the type of buyer. Sometimes it may be easier to sell a $100,000 car than a $2000 car. Do $100,000 cars ever sell off CL or FB Marketplace? Maybe the $35000 car and down?
Maybe checkout Hemmings line sales/auctions?? I have no experience there but I may try it.
If I advertise a nice car for sale, I place many good pics and plenty of narrative and ask people to call for detailed info IF serious. I also state do not text with questions if serious. If it is a builder and cheap enough, then expect the texts. Bottom feeders only understand texting and lowballing??
Sorry I have no real answers!!

Our demographic don’t help,we have certain kind of idiots up here .I take all kinds of abuse trying to sell vehicles .life in the big city,,,

i don't understand.Advertise it honestly let the client look at it and drive it ...and decide whether or not he wants it. I would never let the vehicle go unless it was fully paid for with receipts signed by both parties.

I always thought selling a car on a forum such as this that has a specific group of people interested and knowledgeable on specific cars was the easiest way to sell. I tried this when I sold my Fiero GT (which I still miss) on the Pennock Fiero Forum. It sold in two days with ease and the person who bought it didn't even try to negotiate and paid me exactly what I was asking.

Hey Steve, what's your dream car?
Well I was afraid someone would ask me that LOL
I had a 64 tri power convertible GTO and a one owner immaculate 69 GTO, also a 65 Corvette Convertible
Im leaning towards a 65/66 GTO or another C2 Corvette
So im playing Mega Millions and if I hit I can buy all three plus keep my 69 Sport Satellite and buy a garage big enough for them all LOL!!!

Keep the Plymouth and build a Hemi or 440 Six Pack for it. You'll be happier.

And cooler.

I wouldn't spend the money on a Hemi but I did think about a 440
Im happy with my 383, I just installed Edelbrock E street heads and its running way better
Engine runs cool on the hottest summer day
I converted to a 4 speed last year and I enjoy rowing through the gears
Its a nice car and just about were I want it to be
The thing is I enjoy building them about as much as driving them
The setback with a C2 is cost. A 60 grand small block roadster is what im in the neighbourhood im looking at and one has to be really careful with what id buy
My biggest worry and just might change my mind to skip them is the birdcage. Rot there is not good
Im at the point its now or never, we'll see how it goes

I've sold cars through wire transfers, cash in person, and once the guy deposited the money in my account at the bank when his transporter showed up and car was on the trailer. I don't know why you would insist on an inspection. I'd suggest it, but that's on the buyer. Used cars are sold as is where is in my state, so it's on the buyer to do his due diligence. Price of the vehicle would determine where I would sell it. $100,000 car on craigslist of facebook marketplace would seem out of place. I'd do Hemming's or maybe an auction house like Mecum. I've done 30K cars here and different automotive forums with good results.

The reason id want the buyer to do a inspection is I dont want to hear anyones nonsense . The fact that im not liable or not doesn't mater to me
When I sell anything the buyer knows the true story. I lost a few sales this way but its how I operate.
Ive been thinking of Hemmings and I may go that route
I just talked to the body guy today.....He is finishing up a car and wants my car next. Ive been waiting two years now for him.....Im going to have him install the rocker panel clips and the panels plus touch up areas of the paint
Thanks for replies
