I was under the car putting back together my dart, and noticed the oil pan bolt hitting the drag link (I think that is the name for it)- is this the wrong pan for the car or something?
Why is my oil pan bolt touching my drag link? Pic included.

No number on the pan, the car is a 68 dart, I have no idea where the pan came from originally.
Are you SURE that the center link is installed in the right direction?
Engine mounts (rubber) crushed?
Transmission mount rubber and placement good?

I would assUME wrong pan, but yeah, like rumblefish suggested, I would check the center link, because I HAVE seen them installed backwards before. I HAVE a 67 and up A body pan here I can get the measurement from the back edge of the pan to the back of the sump, if you want.
From the back lip of the back edge of the pan to the pan surface where the drain plug screws in is right at 9".

Hmm, drivers side motor mount I am replacing, it's toast, I have not looked at trans mount, and sure, it could be installed backwards- if anyone has a pic of the 68 bar installed correctly, I bet I can tell right away.
I help up this pan to the old dented and holed pan, and it looked identicle- but who knows if that was the right pan either?

I will have my kids measure it later today. Damn it sure looks identical to the old one.
I had a ‘71 Dart many years ago. I brought it to my mechanic for some things I wasn’t up for fixing on the front end in the snow….
A few min he later, I was back for an inspection. He says to me, “Some idiot installed the center link on backwards, did you touch it?” I said no, I did t touch it, you touched it last.
Embarrassed, he apologized…. Yup! 25 year long Chrysler mechanic made a boo-boo! LOL! **** happens!

There is no real issue when the center link is installed wrong handling and alignment wise? I am starting to believe this is the problem.
So it being installed backwards would only be a clearance issue? That is starting to make sense.
Infront is correct.
Also it looks like the curve part faces forward.

Well f me running. The bolt is on the wrong side of the pan. How the f did I miss that when I compared the pans? What the heck did this pan come off of? I feel like an idiot
At least you have an answer!
I'm not getting how the bolt is on the wrong side of the pan, what do you mean by that? Mine is on the back side of the pan.
PS, That is technically a Center Link, though so many people call it a drag link that most people know what you are referring to. Much like calling a wheel a rim, or a set of rims.

The pan I have is the correct one for a later A body. Drain plug is in the same spot as yours.

Did you MEASURE the pan and compare to the measurement I gave? I didn't just go out there to waste my time. If the measure matches mine, the pan is not the issue.
IIRC draglink goes from pitman arm to the steering arm right.
Now how about that "panhard rod"
I guess it could go to the steering arm left as well, but yes

I.mean the oil drain plug on the busted pan is on the side of the middle hump facing the rear of the car. The new oil pan bolt is facing the k member. Opposite sides of the hump of the pan. What did the donor pan come from I wonder? Like maybe it was a truck pan? This is so Hawaii.
Nope not a truck pan. Those were rear sump.
There were many center sump (car) pans for/6s over the years.
Have a question. I know that on early A bodies there was a /6 center link and a V8 center link. Are you sure you have the right one on your car?

All it'll take is a tape measure to confirm.
