I have a 84 slant 6 with the lean burn.Does anybody know what the time is suppose to be set at? Everything I am finding is pre lean burn. Thanks...

Set it to 16* BTDC with the ESA disconnected.
Then make sure all your vacuum hoses are solid (pliable, no cracks or splits) and connected where they belong. Lean Burn needs to be perfect to work right (and sadly, it still won't be great).

Ok Thanks I

Ok Thanks I just need to get it close. The distribitor was loose and I accidentally moved it not knowing it was loose. I just put a new carb on it. I am going to drive it a few weeks. Then I am getting rid of the lean burn and going to a 70's electronic ignition.

I hope you put on a non lean burn carb. The carb used for lean burn, does not have a "ported" vacuum nipple. When converting to the non lean burn, you need a distributer that has both vacuum and centrifical advance, and needs ported vac from the carb

I always thought all the lean burn stuff set at zero since the lean burn controls the timing.

Yes I used a non lean burn carb. I used a Carter YF

It depends on the year the method used, '79 cars are 10deg base+ 5deg electrical = 15deg Basic Timing.

That won't work well because You removed the throttle closed switch when You ditched the carb. If You leave it open, the ESA will send the advance all over the place coasting & idling. If You ground the wire, there will be no advance except the basic added to base, in other words 15deg total.
This is really an all or nothin' deal when getting rid of the ESA setup.

Since you now have a non lean burn carburetor, just put a standard Mopar electronic distributor in it and throw the lean burn in the ditch.

If You need it to move, ground the wire, start it cold & wait 70 sec. Then set to 15-16deg. That's all. I can't tell You what'll happen to driveability/idle stability with the wire off, but the sooner Ya' get the std. EI setup on, the better.

He is, "in a few weeks", I'm thinkin' park it 'til. Don't know what the sitcheeAshun be tho'.

I have a better answer.
Whatever that engine wants with the new ignition box and distributor with the carb dialed in as best as can be.
That said I've thought about trying the same carb as you got for yours on a slant before. I've worked with a few on 300 Ford's before. But never had one handy when I had a /6 around.

Are You even reading this thread? The OP bumped the dizzy, & needs it to run for a few weeks on the ESA, until the ign. swap. There is no advance except electronic until then, & what I said above applies ....period.

Yeah I read it that engine will be a dog til he finishes the conversion without any sort of advance though.
