Why not a 413 ?

Man, I found like 5 different articles that said 4.18. I guess the 75 was to much trouble to add on. Sorry about that

No biggie. It's kinda like the short stroke big block crankshaft. Everybody calls it 3.38 and it's not. It's 3.375. It's really not important for argument's sake, but it is when you get down to doing the machine work.

Perfection for a street motor.
Agree...
But theyr'e useless to me.
Only big block I have right now is a 400 with steel crank from 383, 915 and 906 heads.
It's been a future project for way too long.
If I had a bb bell housing... then the trans would be my 833...but I have my 410 assembly freshened now and it fits better.

RRR,
Yes, I bored a 413 to 440 size. Drove it for a few years. Long time ago now, but I think it was a truck block & I have heard they were thicker in the cyl walls.

I believe you. Some of the early Hemi blocks were similar. They called them "extended service blocks". They were cast really thick with many rebuilds in mind through the years. My 331 is an extended service block. They are meant to be bored and bored and bored and bored some more, so I have no doubt some of the early RB engines were the same.

Here's my vote...

Chrysler 413

My buddy Tracy has a '62 Savoy crew cab with a 361 and 3 on the tree that he wants me to buy. It's as ugly as me so it might be a good match!

Maybe after I get this stock car racing out of me blood.

383, 400, 426, 440.... but why not a 413? I've never owned one. They advertised 350-380 hp and 450-485 ft lbs of torque from the factory. Would it take much to get 450 hp and 525 ft lbs of torque on pump gas??? I'm looking to learn..... carry on, and thanks in advance
Once 440 blocks get harder find maybe some people will just attempt to open those early 413 blocks up to a 440 bore size.

Many many motorhomes had the 413s in them with steel cranks its shame to think about how many were crushed.

Don't need to go with a crazy overbore, the 413 bore size, stroke rod ratio is better than the 408 everyone is building. Nothing wrong with a 413 other than 440 are plentiful. Same issues with 383 and even 318 with 360.

Das a mighty big over bore for a 413. .1325" over. That's a hell of a cut. There's just no sense in it. Build a 440 or a low deck 451 and be money ahead on parts AND machine work. Or.......do something dumb.
