Can't open door...Help

-
Being a convertible it could also be body flex that is keeping it latched. It would not hurt to put a jack under the mount for the front of the leaf spring on that side and take a little weight off of it. I know before I put the frame connectors in on mine doing that would open up the gap at the door. It may be down just enough to cause it to jam

HMMM.. After seeing these pics of that latch assembly it does not look all that rusty/corroded to me. I'm thinking something else is causing the problem.
Agree, it looks good. I’m thinking the lock is somehow not disengaging. I’ve had that before with a Mustang. I’d have to move the lock knob up and down several times then it would release and voila, the door would open.

Yup! That's what I'm thinking. It has something to do with the door lock function of the latch. It looks in too good condition to be a corrosion problem.

I have looked at the pictures, it looks dry...I would be spraying that down with PB Blaster. IMO, WD40 just doesn't cut it anymore.

You sure someone ain't welded the door shut?

Today was the day!! After almost a month of soaking, pushing, pulling, playing with the internal mechanism, I was just going to cut things off inside when I noticed the door looked like it had moved out a mm or two. Pushing from inside and hitting with my hands eventually popped the door open. The mechanism that catches the latch was what was all rusted. I worked it loose with penetrating oil and now the door opens and closes well. Thanks for all the advice!
