Stop in for a cup of coffee

Now that we are on the subject of mid 60's transes... I have a few questions for all of us to piece together....

A) 64 used pushbutton and cable controlled transmissions...

B) 65 used special floor shifter and cable controlled transmissions...

C) 66 was the first year for linkage controlled shift on transmissions...

1) So are the4 cables and internals for the cable actuation in the transmissions interchangeable on 64 and 65 transmissions???

2) Are the 66 transmissions unique from 64 & 65 transmissions because they were no longer cable control, but shifter actuated???

3) Would the rooster comb be different for the 66 trans than from the 64 - 65 transmissions....

4) What year did they change over from the single wire NSS and go with the 3 wire NSS????

So here is something that I've pieced together in my research....

The "A904" was unique to 60-64.
65- 67 went to the A-904-LA for V8 engines and the A-904-G for slant 6
68 -71 remained the A-904-G for the slant 6 but had an A-904-A (273) and A-904-LA (318) for the V8s

Seems like the suffix differentiation has been lost over time so the generic "904" has many meanings

Some folks are just classic Debbie Downers, don’t matter what the thread or topic!

And "Get off my lawn"

Also need to add the shift from a dual (front and rear) pump system that occurred in 65(??)

The hydraulics flows changed as well because as it seems to me, the use of the.park cable was a mechanical block to the transmission's ability to engage the drive bands and was not related to the flow in Neutral.

The addition of a true "Park" position in 65 created a change in hydraulic flow that differs from the neutral position.

That's a novice's assessment at least

So I guess you didn’t follow my advice and have a bonfire in the drive with it? That thing would be an ashtray by now at my house! Hah! On serious note, congrats on getting a tangible solution. Sounds like you got a good plan in place now. Plus after 99 pages of advice I now know more about push button trannies than I thought possible. Que Karl.

LOL

Apologies to all for dragging you into this quagmire... even though I've met very few of you in person, you guys are my war council.

DHL overnight he said ship them. dam like 150 to send them. Really custom stuff with a spare. he is sick of his MSD distributors failing and somehow heard of me. Cold call. Hey can anyone here draw? I really need a logo for stuff like this. Have a great idea, just not that sort of artist.

Good morning all. Legs up time to offload equiment and head to Port. @$$ hats in the office changed crew change to a day late.

Well... There are a couple dozen homeless bees right now...

Went out and burned their box this AM at 1:00 and a few of them got out while it was burning... I stayed inside and watched so I didn't get stung again...

They were still able to fly to safety at 59°F outside, but none of them stung me... I will have to watch when I go out later... I have a can of brake cleaner strategically placed so I can spray any survivors...

No back read yet, hope you are not talking about your trans.
