These are the headers that are supposed to fit low decks in an A body:
Hedman 78030: Standard Duty Uncoated Headers for 1967-74 B-Body/E-Body - JEGS High Performance

These came up as a suggestion while browsing the above hedmans. With the current $20 off Jegs, these would be about $200 with free shipping:
JEGS 30081: Painted Long Tube Headers for 383-440 MOPAR BIG BLOCK V8 - JEGS High Performance

I know there was already a B body header thread, but I didn’t want to hijack with this question. @oldkimmer and input in this?

Thanks,
Jared

edit to throw summit racings version into the mix: Summit Racing SUM-G9041 Summit Racing™ Headers | Summit Racing

Are they all the same? Is there any reason not to save $80 and buy the house brand?

Are they the same? We all know Jegs and Summit rebrand others parts. Just curious if I can save another $80.
They sure look it to me. Remember though, they aren't always a bolt in deal either.

They look the same to me too. I would have to change to manual steering(wanted to already) and I may or may not have to ding the crap out of them. But it would also save me from having to go to an exhaust shop and get my manifolds attached to my Jegs exhaust kit. The headers would bolt up(supposedly).

I looked over the items you posted from Summit's web. No where does it state they will fit a A Body.
You may have issues with fitment and the money you saved will be lost by having to modify to get them in a A Body.
Not saying that you can't,just be cautious.

They are B Body headers, it’s common knowledge in the BB A Body world that the Hedman B body headers will fit

B-Body Headers In An A-Body

I just want to see if anyone agrees that the summit/jegs house brand header looks like copies of the Hedman. With the current discount it would put those headers at $225 to my door for summit brand, $250 for jegs.

I'm pretty sure they're a direct copy of hedman

They are the same as the older model Hedmans. They have a standard three bolt flange. If you notice, the new Hedmans now have a ball joint flange. This picture gives you some idea of the denting necessary for clearance.

I ended up buying the Hedmans, after @qkcuda pointed out the ball flange, and I found out where Jegs headers are made it was a no brainer. $313 to my door with the current promotion at Summit if anyone is looking. Thanks for the input fellas.

Jared

You won't be disappointed, the 78030 fits nice .
I've installed them in a 67-68 Barracuda and 67 Dart with the low deck big block.
I wished I would have known earlier, would have saved me from cutting for the Hooker fenderwell I used to run.

Thanks man, I really want to run headers but can’t swing $1k for TTI or wait for Schumacher to maybe have them in stock. How about coating them? Should I burn the factory paint off first, then paint?

That's just a low buck primer, to keep em from rotting in the box. I don't care if you grind it all off and by the most expensive engine header paint you can, if you break in a new cam with them, all that work will be futile.... if you've got a high temp powder coating kit or somebody local that plays around like that it's probably worth a couple hundred bucks though to just have that done

The motor is broken in, but I see what you are saying. If they fit as easily as I hope I might be willing to pay up to get them coated. Or just run them raw. This is my weekend/fun car. No bad weather.

I just use barbecue paint.
touch up as needed, when needed. works for me

Eh, mask em off in place, and shoot em! The barbecue paint method works! I've got fancy Dancy high dollar header paint man and been disappointed as Hell by it, but I ran in a cam. That'll fry just about any paint you put on them yourself

Ohhh, Sick! I didn't know that made other then flat black! But may have seen some silver! Lol. Tha'd look Killer!

Heck, get a can from Lowes, spray a test sample, if Ya don't like it, run the black. I've used it to resto some fireplaces..
