Low Dollar 318 Grand Finale Exit !!

It will be interesting to see how things work out at the track. It sure sounds good leaving. I'm thinking a 3.55 or better with a Sure Grip might be the next thing on the list. THen you'll need slicks to get it to hook. It never ends!

I have an open 3.55 center section to put in it, but I'd like a sure grip, maybe 4.10's. I will borrow the drag radials from the other Duster.

The way that sounds leaving now, I'd think 4.10 would be minimum. I "bet" it would even respond to 4.30s or even 4.56s. It sounds really good.

Yeah, I'll see what shows up locally (and reasonably priced...lol) before opening day!

As long as you don't run out of rpm with the 4.10's. You run 1/8th mile?

Cordova is a 1/4 mile track..... but occasionally they run only 1/8th for certain races. Thing is, they charge the same full price for only half the track!!!!! :realcrazy:

 1/8th is easier on equipment but 1/4 is more fun.

Cordova is a couple hours away. Just sayin'. I need to make a trip.

Low Dollar 318 is locked, cocked, and ready to give it's all on April 20th. Will the 48 year old smog 318 hold together after all the beatings it has taken for a Grand Fanale? This engine is the Genesis of 318willrun channel. This engine has inspired dozens and dozens of home builders, the private messages and posts on Forabodiesonly, the emails and comments/questions on youtube - all directly from this little 318. You have my commitment to do my best to allow the 318 to shake, rattle and row! I hope those that been here from 2016, the birth of the Low Dollar 318, will enjoy seeing it get it's chance, finally, to dance! Remember, it was the Low Dollar 318 before 318's were ever cool !!!

Give it hell, those old 318 are tough.
Sold a old 75 power wagon I had to a guy, he just wanted the sheet metal.
I told him the engine was good, he doubted me since it had not been started for two years.
He later called me and he said he dumped some gas down the carb, put in a fresh battery and it fired right up, no tick, no smoke.

Get Er' Done!

How tall are the tires?
4.30s and 4.56s are to much gear unless 1/8 mile only
4.10s or 3.91 depending on tire height
I thought you were running street tires?
Back to back street tires vs drag radials would be interesting :)

26" tires, either set is dot approved. Couldn't land the 4.10's, so were using the 3.55 open. There already in the car. Out of time, but the car is basically ready.

There were a few 'teeners that ran good back in the '80's & early'90's, all low buck 'cause We didn't have much buck to use, & there are a couple of locals that do the tri-state demo-derby rounds that still transplant 'teeners into whatever body they get to use.
