Theresa and I have a little get away coming up on Sunday. Back up to Franklin North Carolina to do some Fall Colors and do some pickin from a buddy up in the mountains.
Hopefully we can make a worth while trip up and gather up more goodies . I retired about 14 years ago from UPS in the St. Louis area. I think this hobby is getting to be a full time job !
I need to slow down and find better stuff and better parts cars. Anyway, I'll try to take some pictures of the trip and sites of interest along the way . Never know what pops up on the back roads of America !
It should be beautiful there this time of year. If we don't freeze to death !!!

Not bringing the motorcycle this time. Pretty much all businesses ! Hopefully we can find time for a meet up with you !
 
My parts to finish my gas furnace install in the garage didn't come in, so I'm headed to the beach here in a few minutes. Hope all goes well, and have a safe trip. We'll catch up next time!

Going through middle Georgia's farm country , looks like crops are ready to harvest. Don't know what this Yellow stuff is. But it's pretty.

About 40 minutes to Franklin. Where we have a hotel room for 4 nights.
 
For about 7 years, we stayed in Ashville for 10-14 days every year for my wife's side business.

With the climate, the scenery, and the incredible food, I could for sure live there.

We even looked at a property-
5 acres on the other side of the valley from the zip line place.
4 cold springs, and a 2500 sq ft unfinished "building" with plumbing and electrical.

88K in 2017

Kinda wish we'd a done that.

NEW tunnel going in for the Appalachian Trail just above Stecoah on 143 going to Robbinsville. Lots of tax payers $$$ being used up. Better get out and do some hiking !
 
Met up with Chris this evening for some adult beverages and dinner..
Chris is a member here known as NC mountaindewller.

Chris was telling me he has stuff he bought from Roy Rivera and Pittsburgh Racer ! Interested in see what he has !

Well Alex. Theresa read that will be for the Appalachian Trail will go over the road. Also wildlife crossing.
Guess they will fill in the missing fill as the progress.
 
After a couple cups of coffee, we're heading over to Chris's mountain home. Should be fun just getting up in the drive way. We'll try to get some pictures .
 
Nice story, I love road trips. How does the wife like going on 4 day car parts hunts? Do you go with her on all her antique store and quilt shopping trips? I'm just asking because I'm somewhat newly married and my wife will go with me on crazy car parts hunts, but she usually prefers to sit in the car while I'm out walking through pricker bushes and climbing around busted up cars. But I always go with her on her two day church trips, and clothes shopping excursions, to keep her happy.

I actually enjoy going with Al on these car parts trips. We've been able to travel around a lot and have met so many great people. Occasionally I do stay in the car, if it's raining or if it's a particularly messy or dirty pick. But most of the time we have a fun time and try to add in some days for sightseeing and meeting up with friends in that particular area. Al usually doesn't mind going into the local antique shops but don't ask him to step foot in a mall.
