I was top Qualifier with our 80 Aspen SS/NA 318 Low Performance
Superstocker at this years Winternational today.

Stock Compression / Thermoquad 1980 318 Combo that weighs 3600 Lbs.
and can run 10s @ 120 + MPH.

Former Larry Harrold/ Paul Rossi Racecar that I bought from Larry's widow for
$3,500 with three engines after it sat for 30 years.

Proudly Sponsored by Glendora Performance ( Formerly Glendora Dodge ) that has
helped us for the best part of 50 years. Matt who has been the Parts Manager for
decades is the most knowledgeable Mopar parts guy that I have ever meet.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior today and for Eternity!

Congrats! Can I reach through my computer and slap the first guy that makes fun of 318's? 10's at a buck 20 and in a 3600 # car? Perfect.

That is an awesome accomplishment- both as a driver and as a builder!
For those who need some context, that was L0/B0 Hemi Super Stocker territory when they came out- and doing it with a stock compression 318 and over a quarter ton more weight!
Best of luck in eliminations!

Well show us the Car ! Pictures and videos ! You know we like Pictures.
Saw it on Drag Race Central , Congrats John !

Congratulations John! Sounds like a well sorted car. 65
After 50 years of going down the track = It is indeed!

My friends at Loge/Stein Racing (They do work for several guys on this forum)
did the machine work for me and my friend Steve Wann assembled the new shortblock.

First few races on the new shortblock. I think we can get significant power out of updating
the heads that were done the last century. They little 318 was factory rated at 155HP and currently
makes over 500 HP.

Congrats @GTX JOHN !
Very impressive performance with your Aspen package...and you're 100% right about Matt. He's been a great friend to Inland Mopars Car Club over the years he was at Glendora Dodge. Glendora Performance is his new post-retirement venture.
There are 40 entries in Super Stock according to nhra.com.
Take the round wins all the way through Sunday eliminations!

Very outside of Row and on side closest to spectator parking lot.
Big White Volvo Toterhome with 5 Mopar in front of it.

I have some numbers and options ready to show you on a possible
trailer we could build for you.

However, the rain forecast is awful for the weekend.

Jon just beat the last years World champions in Stock.
.020 and dead on 10.64 HARD on the brakes. They put up a close
.023 and one off HARD on their brakes.

They are trying to run two more rounds today and get us down to 3 cars
on Saturday.

I faced a former World Champion in Superstock and we both put up red lights.
Since he was dial faster that my Aspen at 8.20 to my low 11, mine came up first
(First red light is the loser) ending my day much shorter than I would have liked.

Sounds good! Glad to hear about Jon’s win, he was a little bummed when I talked to him the other week when he went out in the first round.

Been tracking the weather all week and it’s slowly tracking right. Sunday is looking like scattered showers a couple of times during the day, hope it keeps shifting.

Good luck to you guys and I’ll see you on Saturday!

The red light stinks but it sounds like a good weekend of racing for you nonetheless. And it sounds like Jon jr is doing well.

I was able to beat him in Vegas last year.
However, you need to be really on you game against
a former Divisional and World Champion.

His Grandfather was World Champion in the 1960s and beat
me too.

It is a tough deal when your opponent Red Lights as well and you know
any Green Light would have won the race.

I also had the first Bye as soon as it occurred being #1 qualifier.

Ryan redlighted again next round so his day was pretty short as well.

When we got down to 9 Cars in Stock John Raced our friend and Christian Brother
in Christ Jimmy DeFrank. He has been multiple times the World Champion!

Jon put down a .011 light but broke out by a hundred while Jim broke out by less
than one hundred. OUCH.

Our God is Awesome and Worthy of All Our Praise!
