Add My Son Sent...

Several years after the morons at Dodge cancelled the Dakota and focused only on full sized trucks. They started promising they would come back with the Dakota. They realized they misread the market. They kept promising the new Dakota, but it never came. I bet the new mid-size truck, if it ever does come out, will be only 5 or 10% smaller than the full-size truck, and it will have only an anemic 4 cylinder engine.

In the mechanic biz I'm ok without the 8ft bed
But if you can't put a dirt bike in the back then it's just an open trunk

The new one sure looks right in line with the 82-84 Rampage - I just wish they had built it as a 2 seat with a longer bed like the old Rampages. I love my 84 Rampage as a versatile daily driver
As far as a the full sized pick up trucks of today - is it really a work truck if you can't put a 4X8 sheet of plywood in it???
Soccer moms all have to have a four door.... pickup or what ever. They only need a bed large enough to carry the snot nosed kids soccer balls and all the kids!! :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead::poke::popcorn:

More doors are ok for me too
My favorite Dakota was a more door with the bench seat
And my ram has the bench too
The only ride I have that can carry 6

Aussies love their Utes! Should sell well there.

I dunno... saw the part of the ad that said, "once you see it you'll never forget it. " Must be the down-under way of saying, "you can't unsee this."

My son has been living in Australia for some time now. We're always talkin about how different the cars are there. He sent this on Facebook this morning. That's what "THEY" are supposedly getting.

All this fly by wire garbage has got to stop. The only thing it does is take control of the vehicle from the driver and give it to a computer. Throttle pedal sensors, dial a gear transmissions, electronic parking brakes (used to be called an Emergency Brake). All vehicle manufacturers are guilty of producing this garbage, so nobody knows how to handle any situation that may come up.

The price will get you I know.$$$$ And if they had a 318 would make it more interesting

Would think it's built off the fwd platform
That the Cherokee is built off
Not a fan of the 9 spd either
I do like the cruise control that follows the car in front but don't like the lane departure crap
Sometimes I like driving on the line or crossing the line on a tight turn ..
Had cars on a test drive try a steer you back if your trying to pass on the right..when someone is turning

You won't catch me puttin up a fight there. I agree 100%. Technology has gone too far. We need the option of "no tech" vehicles. Maybe ZERO computer control EXCEPT the EFI system. But we all know that'll never happen.

Interesting fact regarding rear axles in Dakotas versus 1972-1989 full size trucks.

The axle in a Dakota is actually wider....by almost an inch.

Interesting that the distance between the wheel tubs in the bed is so much narrower.

I hope its not like when the Dodge Dart came back

I guess to off set the tires to the inside
Seen people put sweptlines on Dakota frames.....was kind of thinking for mine
But easier to just keep it stock
Since rust wasn't too bad

No kidding. I was at the Mopars on the Strip car show in Vegas the year they came out. Dodge had several of them there and were letting people drive them. I drove one and it was OK. I asked if I could get a stereo with a CD player and the girl said no. Then she insulted me by basically saying that CDs were out and that only old people wanted them. I told her I had an extensive collection of CDs and several dozen books on CD. Then she continued to belittle me for wanting a CD player by telling me to just copy then onto an MP3 player. I told her I didn't want to do that, and she said something rude like "the figures". So even if I did like the car, that would have turned me off.

The new Dart was a total BOMB not because it was a POS. They were actually decent little cars. They just didn't offer a DARN THING that everybody else was already doing. Same old same old.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
What really irritates me is that most cars now (both of mine) have heater and radio/stereo controls on the touch screen. If the stupidly expensive touch screen fails, you have no heater, no AC, no stereo system.....

They're trying to follow the John Deere, make it too complicated so you can't work on it yourself, engineering model.
Trying to keep the dealerships' repair shops in business by screwing over the public, in addition to the mechanics They're already screwing over.
If they ever sold a basic vehicle again, they'd probably break sales records.

The USA needs a small and dependable truck (vehicle) that is also affordable and a GOOD product.

I am so old and *** backwards, my solution is a truck built before all the on dash and engine/trans tech!!
Since I am old and woreout, an old and woreout truck suits me just fine!
That is why I restored this 93 B2600i 4x4…

IH is doing the same thing with Their Ton-&-a-Half sh*t, who wants to be stuck going to the Dealer for the life of a 'used for whatever it takes' contractor/plowing etc. or small tow shop, they've been rude & un-professional to friends of Mine who've been operating for decades.
It's like Hunter equipment, every part is odd, proprietary & patented somehow for the dumbest crap, & You have to pay for the tech to look at it, provide, & install it....almost everything..........IH wouldn't even make wiring diagrams available to Us,....this truck is 10 years old.....don't know if Mitchel1/OnDemand or Alldata have it available with one of their service programs,...I'm not a 'heavy truck' guy,...don't know what's out there...

The new one techs are complaining about is
You need a subscription to reset service lights on vw audi ...Porsche has done it for a couple of years
I don't mind cause I have it
But the chain stores can't or will have to pay
I kind of get it though if they can't document the service how do you know if done
And how can you resell it if not serviced properly

Years ago I had a shop repairing Wood Boats & didn't own a welder. Before, I'd worked at many shops that let me use theirs. I needed one for a forgotten project & a friend had a Craftsman Wire Welder he let me use. It didn't work right & I determined it had nozzle & tip problems & went to my normal Welding shop dealer friend who couldn't get Craftsmans' Proprietary parts as they were made by Hobart. He got me the same Hobart parts out & the only difference was the threads. The Craftsman part was Stupidly More Expensive. So I bought the Hobart part & rethreaded the head to accept it. Worked great.
I ended up getting a deal on a Lincoln used @ The Speedway during the Brickyard, that I still have. Wish it had a spot attachment, but upgrade not available from Lincoln for that model. Oh well!
