what has to be done to get a Dana 60 ready to run in a A-Body?

were would i get custom axles?
What Brakes would i use since these are 8 lug?

i need the whole layout of what i should and what i need to do

you can buy a Dana 60 from any of the the big driveline companies like Moser or Strange. Be ready to pay around $2500.

Pretty overkill for a 12 second street car with a small block and an auto trans.

Axles will cost you $300 Plus the cost of having it cut down, Moser charges $150 I think, Plus spring perches will need to be welding in the right place. For brakes You have plenty of choices, 8-3/4 and Dana 60 (with Mopar ends on the tubes) will use the same brakes. Figure $500 for disc or maybe $250 for swap meet and parts store stuff.

Or use Big Ford ends on the tubes and any ford brakes will work.

You will also need a drive shaft.

What it have for gears? Is it a limited slip ? You could easily be in over $1500 redoing a truck rear.

You can redo your 8.25 for less.

Limited slip $300
Gears $200
Rebuild kit $150

Have it installed and be done for under $1000. How often are you REALLY going to be racing it ?

i have the limited slip a sure grip and i have gears for the 8.25

would it cost the same to go to 8 3/4

If its an 8 lug it could have full float axles w/12" drum brakes. That rearend is huge for an a body. Do you know what it's out of?

Just put one in my 68 dart last night. Strange engineering unit w/4-link

Not really... two days work by myself not counting fabricating and moving the lower control arm mounts inboard. With the lift and tranny jack it's a breeze.
I see your on San Jose. I get out to Los Gatos to see family regularly.
If you have any questions I would be glad to help...

hi,ok, here is a simple way to put a dana 60 in. first remove the axles, they should be a 30 spline. which is the same as an 8 3/4 axle. now, measure the width, cut ends off, weld 8 3/4 ends on, install 8 3/4 axles, brakes, etc. the 8 3/4 axles are a bolt in deal. I did this to my duster. the dana 60 from a 1967 to 72 ford 1/2 ton pickup is somewhat easier and lighter. only other item is welding spring pads on in correct location.

hmm if it takes any more work then cutting the dana and getting custom axels i think im good and will just stay with the 8.25
