Hey guys,

the local u-pull it is having a big sale thingy on saturday, and i am trying my hardest to look for a nice pair of buckets to put in my 71 scamp. I doubt i will find anything there that is mopar and era correct. Is anybody out there running buckets out of other cars that match the rest of their interior (shape and size wise)? I will definatly recover whatever the seats are so that they match the rest of the interior, but just wondering if anyone has run different buckets in their cars.....POST PICTURES OF THIS STUFF IF YOU HAVE ANY PLEASE!

Thanks alot
Matthew

Anything can be "made to fit" with enough fabrication. I'm running 99-00 dodge avenger seats in my duster that have all mechanical adjustments. They only share one bolt hole with the original seats..
If I had it to do over again I would use something that fit a little closer to begin with. I would start by measuring the passenger side floor board in between the trans tunnel and the outer mounting hump and from the first step up in the front to the step down in the rear, then measure seat height ( the butt part ) front and back. The reason I say passenger side is that the trans tunnel is closer to the pass side than the driver side.
After that visit your local pick and pull with your tape measure and start looking for seats that fit the measurements... :thumleft:
I understand that I will take you a while to find something you like and fits, but it's FAR easier than getting some awesome seats only to find that you have to transplant the floor from the car they came from to get them to fit.

I just took these out of a 75 Duster. I don't know what they came from but after the original owner drilled a few holes, they fit quite nicely. Needs a little cleanup and the driver side has a little wear on the back part that can be seen in the picture. Otherwise, they aren't too bad. I guess they're worth about $100 plus shipping.

thanks

Im looking at seats out of either a neon, avenger, sebring or a dodge daytona...i like the dodge daytona seats the best, but im still not sure which pair im going to go with....The seats obviously need to be recovered, so where can i buy some nice quality vinyl covers for these buckets? my dad got some really nice seat covers for his dart's bench seat from a company called autocraft interiors....just wondering if anyone knows of any vinyl covers that might work with newer seats such as these since i dont want to spend the money to have them custom stitched

thanks

hey guys im looking more for those running factory buckets from other cars since paying the money for a set of sparco's really isnt what i want to be spending on.

previous owner put these in because they were more comftorable than the stock bench. However he only drove it 10 miles in 5 years.

I do not like them and am also looking for something different. They are comftorable but look horrible

hopefully new seats will help the steering wheel blend in better too. I love the woodgrain, but it doesn't look good right now either. Hairy72's looks good though! maybe i will look for some of those...

Don't forget to make sure you've welded some reinforcing plates where the new bolt holes are just like the factory did for original buckets. You don't want the seats to pull through the floor in case of an accident.

If I go out and buy cloth buckets for my scamp (like from a neon or daytona) where can i get vinyl covers for them so they can match the rest of the interior? this is what i need help with...i dont want to get into any custom upholstery, but is that my only option? If anyone has ever taken cloth buckets and made them match their interiors please share how you did and post some pics too if you can

thanks again guys

Mine are fitted but not installed yet,car is in the body shop (I do not want to get paint on them) and they are from a 02 Sunbird---THEY WORK...my interior is vynil but the seats are cloth and were refinished in cloth with the color matching as close as I could find.

leblanc are your seats cloth? Are you keeping them cloth or are you putting covers? I need to know about who makes vinyl seat covers for these seats guys, i dont know how else to ask it....anybody?

Vinyl still used to cover Neon or similar seats?? An upholsery shop can make vinyl covers for you.

Newer seats are usually cloth or leather, not vinyl. To get a Neon seat (for example) to match the rest of the vinyl interior (stitching/pattern) an upholstery shop will be probably your only option.

I know that neon seats only come in cloth...what i am asking is those of you who got cloth buckets out of newer cars, what did you use for covers? are there any companies out there that can make vinyl covers to go over them for cheap, or is my only option an upholsterey shop? how much do upholsterey shops charge for something like this anyways? i know it won't be specific, but just a ballpark figure would even help

I had a VERY REPUTABLE upholstery shop here quote me $80-100 per seat for new cushions and vinyl on a 72 Sebring bucket seat. In the end I gave the buckets to my friend though because I want to use Corbeau TRS seats.
