First try at a door panel

My Son-in-Law and I have been trying to see if we could redo our own door panels. Here is a picture of a back one we did. What do you guy's think?
Good Bad or Ugly?

TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!! I want to hear a step by step of how you made those. I've made my own as well. But I want to know how you made those.
 
I know interior guys that dont do that good of a job. I think it looks great.
 
Sure doesnt look like a first attempt! Looks GREAT, well done!
 
Based on one assumption, that the upper left corner which normally comes to a point, will be covered by the seat. GREAT JOB!

definatly not bad or ugly. that looks good. I love hte M symbol. will it match the color of your car?
BUT..... always has to be one and damn I am the first? This would just be my taste. I would not want so much padding to where there is big difference where the window crank is. and I have not been in the back seat of my car to much but will the arm rest be in the way of the M?

But hey I really like it and if you were to be selling some I would buy if I had the funds....
 
The M is in the way of where the arm rest was.
If you look close you can see holes where some dummy put the M on upside down at first! If we use the arm rest we will have to make the M smaller and relocate it. We where thinking of maybe no arm rests in the back.

The padding is 1/2" thick, where thinking 1/4 might be better. We had to cut the pad out in the area where the window crank is to keep it from rubbing.

Larry made the M out of MDF on his C&C machine and we painted it gray, but where thinking body color might look better. Or maybe polished aluminum.
 
I need to change my interior from tan to black, I have heard about fabric paint??? would that be the way to go on stock torn up back seats and the dash, side and door panels?
 
I painted the door panels from green to black in my dart. used a primer made for vinyl then a paint for vinyl. Turned out real nice. Not sure if you would want to use it on a area that would see a lot of use like the seat, but worked great on my panels. Bought the paint at NAPA.
