my new project, triple black 71 wedge clone

-
Update, found most of the parts to complete the car and just received my polyglass tires today, sharktooth grill, found a decent drivers side fender, and tinted glass for the drivers door will be on it's way soon as well. Now I just need to find the time to work on it. Getting ready to open up a ice cream shop in the front of my tanning salon and it's been taking up most of my time.

Also getting ready to order a set of new seat covers and wanted to get feed back on what you guys think would look best in it.
1. Regular black 71 seat covers
2. hounds tooth
3. orange seat covers with orange door panels
Any help with what to go with would be awesome.

I've got a dumb question I suppose. What does "triple" stand for in "triple black". I've always assumed it meant black paint, black vinyl top, and black interior? Since this car does not have a black vinyl top I must be wrong ... so what is the third "black" exactly?

It can also mean black paint, black stripes and black interior.

I thought it had to do w/ the three different layers of black paint that makes it so glossy and black?

Good question...

I would say no way to orange and black.

Regular black we all know would look nice, but Im leaning just a bit towards Hounds Tooth.

You don't see Hounds Tooth very often and I think it would give the car "that something extra"......

I'm kind of agreeing with you, the orange would almost stick out too much on this black car but the hounds tooth would give it another neat option.

Does any one on here have any pictures of black and white houndstooth interior.

Added the tires to it over the weekend, these are on the back for right now but will be going on the front when it's done. I'm going to be putting on a set of wider originals on the back.

You will love those tires. I run E70-14 redlines on my 68. I put on Depends when I go for a drive because I know if I hit some ruts on the highway I will at least pee my pants.

That's pretty funny(lol), I've got another set of steel rims that I'm going to install some newer tires on for the long rides and use the original polyglass tires for the local shows and slap them on it when I get to Chryslers at Carlisle.

that looks awesome =D>
=D>
i would probably do something different with the wheels though..
at least use a wider steel on the rear..
just my opinion though..

I run mine full time and wouldn't change them. They just give a great look.

But... 40 year old tire technology is so 40 years ago.

lookin nice man, have u thought about some chrome hood pins and chrome wheel lip moulding, or are u just goin black all the way

Hey Ryan, I might add the hood pins and wheel opening molding not sure yet. I keep going over to your photo page any updates on your car, I love that thing.

Just saw this one on ebay and it kind of reminds me of the one I'm doing. Thought it was a pretty neat car with a few things I would of done different. Should painted the satin black on top of the doors, fenders and around the window and would of looked better then just the hood.

Sharktooth grill and the correct dog dish hub caps would of looked really nice on it as well.

Don't need to "anodize" - there's black chrome powder coats now - someone Photoshop the Ebay car w/the black chrome dog dish look - I think it'd look bad (as in good). Eastwood's got the black chrome BTW.

Just as an FYI, Eastwood doesn't make their own powders (and, in fact, doesn't make most of the stuff they sell), they get them from other suppliers and severely mark up the price.
