I am preparing my block to go to the shop. I have yet to pick the shop I will use. What are most people paying for the key maching steps in a quality street strip build including
- boring and honing with torque plates
- squaring the block
- line boring
- clean and inspect
- sonic check of the cylinders
- install cam bearings

Thanks

look for a shop with a history...not just the owner telling you that he does top quality machine work.

I think you'll spend about a grand for the work you listed. Your not doing anything with the heads or having the shop doing any assembly. The only thing I didn't see was rod and piston work.

- boring and honing with torque plates $375
- squaring the block $200
- line boring $430 (includes fitting studs if needed)
- clean and inspect $175 (includes magnaflux)
- sonic check of the cylinders $175
- install cam bearings $50 (part of assembly charge)

The block in the shop now is in for cleaning, magging, main studs, align hone, square deck, plate hone, check and correct RPM heads, mill RPM heads, and internal race balance assembly. I sonic test myself so that's not in the shop bill. I'm expecting it to be around $2K in machining costs. This is a top-of-the-line shop in CT.

Thanks for the information. Yes you are richt I forgot the inspections and possible mods to the rods and crankshaft as well as the balancing.
