Scored an '85 Gran Fury AHB car that ended up being used as a fire inspector's car for King County. The car has just under 90K, and everything is in EXCELLENT shape. The one thing I'd like to do is get rid of the "No-Burn" set-up and put a standard electronic ignition in it as well as cleaning up under the hood (it looks as thought there is a good mile or so of vacuum tubing under there!). Also, does anybody know if this is the first year of the roller cam or last year of the flat tappet cam? Suggestions and advice would be appreciated

If you google 'eliminating lean burn system'- you'll find some really good info on converting using junkyard and good quality aftermarket parts. It's involved, but far from impossible. Good luck.

Thanks- I'll have to do just that. It's not an A-body, but for the price, the HD build on it, and the "Easy-maintenance" interior, I just couldn't say no.

Sounds like a nice car well worth fixing up.
I'm going to pitch the lean burn on my '81 Dodge p/u. I found a good article on this conversion at slantsix.org. It has a good detailed write up with electrical diagrams.
Does anyone know what to expect from the conversion in drivability, performance etc. from doing this mod alone? All the vehicles i've driven with lean burn were dogs and gutless.
Is that specifically why you are getting rid of the lean burn?

Personally, I do it just for the reliability of it. Hard to beat the old ECU set up. Not really sure about performance, though. Most of the cars Pop and I have done this swap on have been 318 two barrel cars and a couple of 318 four barrel engines. So performance is kind of relative. Noticed a bigger gain when the TQs came off and Holley's went on...

I will post some photos when I get back to the car- it is locked in the barn of the guy I got the car from. Very long story, very interesting-his barn has my old Okanogan County Fire Dept Power Wagon (I sold it to him about 9 years ago), a couple Formula S Barracudas, convertible Imperial, a Rolls Royce, a Jag sedan, a New Yorker, an IH Scout, some Grand Wagoneers, an early-production '64 1/2 Mustang w/a 260 & stick tranny, and so on. Can't and won't say where it is, but maybe I'll get some photos of the stuff when he gets back and we pull it out (plates will be covered).
