future of fuel prices :(

I was talking to my boss the other day about his 1970 fiat 500 and he told me that he heard from the fiat factory back in italy that the deal between fiat and the USA gov. was that fuel prices were going to go up to $3.50/gallon and wouldn't come back down so that fiat cars would sell better.

Then today he told me he heard the usa gov. wants to jack up the cost of fuel to $7.xx/gallon like in european companies (all tax). We both don't if this is for sure but it sure is scary to think that fuel could go that high.
 
I believe European countries pay by the liter. I think its a buch of talk personally. I know they will go up, but I don't think it will go up that much. The government would end up loosing money because people would quit driving. I know I would. I live five miles from work and I would either ride a bike or the bus.
 
The government does not control the oil companies,the oil companies control the world.
 
i also have heard this $7 a gallon seems unlikely though but now days who knows.

The oil companies are probably in the 2nd spot. The World Bank runs the world. As for $7/gal, they can try but I would hate to see what ugliness comes from the American people if that ever happened.
 
I`m sure you`ll see gas go up as the weather warms but $4.00 a gallon just about destroyed our economy once. I don`t think it`ll happen again soon unless they`re bent on finishing us off.

The healthcare answer should let us know if they are going to push for the 7 dollars a gallon. I read that they say if gas can get this high it will force us to go green. I believe it will force the voter to the polls.
 
I don't know who controls the gas prices, but raising it won't make us go green, it will make us go broke. Last time it even helped kill the real estate market around here. Commuters from here to Chicago stopped moving out of the city suddenly or moved back to save from having to drive. Add the loss of jobs due to companies going broke from fuel prices and it starts all over again.
 
It's just a matter of time any way you look at it........they've printed so much money at the Fed that inflation is a gimme, possibly even hyper-inflation at some point...........so we're looking down the barrel of a Mid-East war with Iran as the focal point, and our own inflationary cycle looming.........It don't look good.
 
It's all Bushs fault! Er? Ah? Oh yea... he hasn't been Presdent for a YEAR!

Lets see if Obama gets the Hell Bush got when prices rose when he was President! I'd assume not... They'll find some way to blame Bush.

and I agree... This is just a plot to force people to "Go Green".
They haven't realized yet, that this "Green" business is pushing people out of work, and making people go broke. Personally I feel ultimately it's about more Government control. Exactly the thing Reagan bitched, and warned us about for 8 years. This Health Care Bill is just one more tentacle of this!
 
It would be about time you guys catch up with us on gas prices. We laugh our heads off at the pump when we visit the USA and need to refuel our rentals. We're paying $7,90 a gallon for regular over here in Holland at the moment and it's not stopping anyone from driving. Apart from needing a daily driver to go to work, we still have fun on the weekends driving our classic american iron at a rate of 9 mpg.
Sure we complain about the prices over here (they are ridiculous), but it's not as if everyone is going broke because of this.
 
Well the Goverment has borrowed trillions from the Social Security fund and now the SS is recalling the loans and guess where the goverment is gonna have to get the money from to repay it? So if they dont repay it were screwed either way.
 
And all this BS is so sad, MT, WY and Col are sitting on more oil than the entire mid east and canada comined, but the government wont let them touch it, and then we have 100s of years of natural gas and 1000s of years of endless coal that can even be made into petro products. But Obama said and the libs blamed Bush and big OIL recall?

So now is Obama in bed with OIL too?

So what do you think the real anwser is? I know why they would dig drill, or even let them build new nuc plants, oil plants etc. Hell they could run every GOV USA vehicle on all nat gas too and that alone would save 30-40 % of all fuel used in the US.

PURE BS and price control... pure wack!
