I bought a set of Mopar Performance restoration wires from Summit... set # 9797 for the 340 small block.

The wires won't fit, no matter how you divide them up.... one is always too short........The only difference from stock here is the Mopar Performance valve covers.........they are apparently just barely too high to balance these wires out properly........

Does anyone know where I can buy singles of these orange Mopar wires? They're the 7 mm from Mopar Performance, #9797's, in orange........need one about 25 to 26 inches or so..............

HELP.................. Doc

Well, you could buy two sets..............

I've had just the opposite problem when buying aftermarket wires for big blocks. Every wire is too long and I mean WAY too long.

I had the same problem. I bought two sets. Now I have extras in the case of problems. One good thing is the set is not alot of $$$

This is where I love to custom cut my own.

Anyone have an extra wire about 25" to 26" long they can part with?

Mopar Performance 340-Orange # 9797, stock boots...........

i just went with the accel 300+ race wires the look exactly like stock ones ya know the black ones with the yellow writing i have a msd pro billit dist and it has the male cap so i ordered mine for a ford 351/302 and they fit like a glove

Just spoke to Mopar Direct......Customer Service states that they KNOW about the difficulty, and have not done anything to correct it.....NICE, huh?

They blame it on specs for a specific "year" of 340 that won't fit ALL of them.....I'm at a loss here, because I believe that the 340 is a 340...period. Valve cover looms were different on some, BUT when the wires won't stretch to fit not even utilizing a loom, I think they acll that a "manufacturers defect".

Summit can't send a single wire to replace the short one...... Mopar can't send it either....... SO, they have you over the proverbial barrel.

If you want these restoration wires, you have to purchase TWO SETS.........I have to wonder if it's a convenient error to increase sales.......The Rep. said the complaint was common..............BUT AGAIN, they continue to sell them as a proper restoration set. :wack:

I don't generally get ticked too easily, but this has me frosted.
