The "Nobody will want it" 73 Duster Driver project

I wish I saw this earlier. I finished putting the rear springs, filled it (so I would not forget) and adjusting the height so I could drop it to ride height and measure for the driveshaft and noticed the bottom of the diff with a slight wetness. I thought maybe the gasket didn't seal, but now...

The "Nobody will want it" 73 Duster Driver project

Completed patch panel weld repair on quarter. Test fitting the new rear. Stock springs were junk so ordered ESPO springs +1 but not here until July so I will run it with the stock junk on the longest shackle. I like the fit of the rear. Wheel shown is a little bigger than stock, not sure...

340 duster call out numbers on the quarter panel removal adhesive question

Before you do all that work can you at least try the wet sand idea? Personally, I would wet sand 1000 grit (like you were working down orange peel) and take your time, by hand, with a block. Then 2000 when the ridge is gone/less. And see if you still have clear left after its smooth. If you...

The "Nobody will want it" 73 Duster Driver project

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised. It spent most of its life in Florida and moved up to NC for a little while so survived with minimal rust. Although, I am finding more Bondo that I would prefer. Someone must have owned stock!

The "Nobody will want it" 73 Duster Driver project

I bought a 70 roadrunner 8-3/4 off B-body only forum and here is me moving the perches and restoring it for install. I pressed in new studs (got rid of reverse thread) on both sides and did a total brake rebuild. The chunk is a 741 open with 2.9 gears, so that will need to be upgraded one...

The "Nobody will want it" 73 Duster Driver project

Its been a long time since my last update, but I have been driving and working on the car. Took it on the Hot Rod Power tour in 2023 and it overheated due to stuck thermostadt and old water pump, but have been doing a lot. Here is the build sheet I found under the seat. Pretty basic Then I...

    Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

I am planning on attending this year. I went last year and did not see too many A-bodies. Hope that changes. Here is Day one line up to tour flashback... (I'm driving the leaning tower of power). Don't think I am theft target LOL!! RGAZ

Driver inlet rad on slant 6

I'll take it when/if you find it. Yeah I will probably make a bracket to hold it away from the crank pulley. I'll take some pictures as I work on it and note anything special. I ordered it today and it should be here by Friday, so if I get to it this weekend I'll reply back here soon. I...

Driver inlet rad on slant 6

I have an extra radiator that has bottom inlet on drivers side. Want to use it with the 73 Duster stock slant 6. Top rad hose is no problem, anyone figured the best option for routing the bottom inlet over? I am sure I can figure something out, but wanted to check the brain-trust first. RGAZ

Does anyone know what driveshaft I need for a 904 to 8.75 rear

A driveshaft shop can shorten it easily. They aren't near you but I use these guys. Super old school. https://carolinadriveline.com/ At least go to their site and use their forms to make proper measurements. Their forms are very good. BTW - I am doing the exact same thing to my 73 duster...

[WANTED] 120MPH speedo for 73 Duster or Equivalent

Not to be that way, but I would rather deal with a member of the forum as the ebay parts I bought before their definition of "working" is not usually accurate. I would rather have someone here who can help me out and would understand my need. Unless that is a member on ebay, but i cannot tell...

[WANTED] 120MPH speedo for 73 Duster or Equivalent

Not looking for a restoration quality, but I need one that works better than what I got. Odo mileage does not matter and I just need the speedo itself (not the whole instrument cluster). Looking for it shipped to South Carolina or within driving from Upstate SC. 29620. In case you didn't...

    73 Dart Swinger digital cluster

I was considering using them as well as my Speedo is done for and a "might work" Ebay speedo is almost as much as these. If you do go this route, I could probably use your speedo since you will need to reuse the Bezel for those as long as its working. Lets see what others suggest. RGAZ

1973 Duster cowl and Hood pinstripes - Scoop?

..and I am going to see what it looks like on my hood. Spaced further apart and possible back a bit more. I want to see what that looks like. Stay tuned. (I have to find some reasonably priced and not true resto quality) RGAZ

1973 Duster cowl and Hood pinstripes - Scoop?

Awesome! Thanks for the locations. Just for fun I used some Vinyl peel-off black paint to get a feel for how it looks. Keep in mind that this is just a temporary trial for general look before I paint it in (the pinstripes on the inside peeled off easily). I think I like it, but it needs the...

73 /6 PS: Correct way to purge air from box?

I'll give it another shot, but when I loosened them more, the fluid came squirting out very quickly and made a total mess. Would you happen to know if I should tap it towards the firewall or towards the grille to change the wheels from turning right?

73 /6 PS: Correct way to purge air from box?

I believe so. I mean it moves so very little that its hard to tell, but I kept tapping away at it and it doesn't move or change anymore. Next step?

73 /6 PS: Correct way to purge air from box?

I am not centering the wheel. What I am trying to solve is when I start the car the wheel turns to the right by itself. Before adjustment it went all the way to the right lock (pretty quick) and pushed on the lock constantly. Now after adjustment it turns slowly right only a little.

73 /6 PS: Correct way to purge air from box?

Thanks for this guys. I conducted this last weekend and while it improved the center, its still slightly off and to the right. I loosened and tapped and it appeared to not move any further. I loosened a little more and that was a mistake. It sprayed fluid out from under the valve, so I...

1973 Duster cowl and Hood pinstripes - Scoop?

It does seem odd. I discovered they are the same as the 69 cuda scoop. Aftermarket has them as non-functional. Only on 73-74 Duster Twister and pretty rare. Most people say they look wrong. Some old posts claim they were functional but from what I see its only if the owner made them that...

1973 Duster cowl and Hood pinstripes - Scoop?

Guys, I stumbled across this decal and hood pinstripe kit at Classic (Ma1180). https://www.classicindustries.com/product/1973/plymouth/duster/parts/ma1180.html And in the picture it appears there are two scoops within the decal. Their position seems odd. Can anyone give me details on these...

73 /6 PS: Correct way to purge air from box?

So to confirm: Jack car up. Start car. Loosen two star-head bolts in pictures. Tap or slide assembly front to back? Is there really that much play there? I don't think I loosened those bolts, but I will give it a shot. RGAZ

73 /6 PS: Correct way to purge air from box?

I did get the foam up issue too. My steering box does not look like the one in the picture. Maybe I am missing something, but I will get a picture of it tonight and post it to confirm the bolts you are referring to. Thanks for the help, I felt like I was just going in circles! (pun intended)...

73 /6 PS: Correct way to purge air from box?

From the forum search I found the following: Raise front of vehicle with engine off. Turn wheel all the way left. (engine off) Top off pump. Slowly turn wheel stop to stop about 20-40 times. (engine off) Check fluid level. (engine off) Done. Start engine. So I have now conducted this procedure...
