Antenna installation on a ‘63 Valiant

Yes, nice clean cut - I suppose someone could have plugged with their own grommet, but it looked designed for it. Unfortunately the plug disintegrated when I removed it.

Antenna installation on a ‘63 Valiant

My V200 wagon did not come originally with a radio. I’ve installed a working one, and there was an antenna delete grommet in the fender. I’ve removed that, but I don’t see where to route the antenna lead. Do I have to drill a hole? Why would there be a fender grommet, but no other plug to...

'63 Valiant V200 wagon - heater blower removal

Yes, I do have the service manual; I was hoping I read it wrong. A couple other steps - drain some coolant, remove the defroster tubes, remove the radio to get to the cables... Prolly some other steps. 15 minutes? A child can do it? OK. Of course, I can do all these things. But given the...

'63 Valiant V200 wagon - heater blower removal

I'd like to remove mine for servicing. Is it possible to remove it from the engine compartment - or, (*gulp*) can it only be detached by first removing the heater assembly? Asking for a friend.

'63 Valiant V200 wagon - location of heater blower resistor

Yeah, that "in the heater box" threw me - but the resistor was "on" the heater box, and the connectors are now mated. And the radio was already out to replace the defroster grates. Thanks to all for your suggestions and help.

'63 Valiant V200 wagon - location of heater blower resistor

Ah! Found it, in the service manual. It appears to be on the firewall near the heater assembly. Now to crawl under the dash and see if it's still there.

'63 Valiant V200 wagon - location of heater blower resistor

Found the P/N. Now, where does it go? And where can I get one?

'63 Valiant V200 wagon - location of heater blower resistor

Off of my heater blower switch connector, there's another two-wire connector that's dangling: The wiring diagram indicates that this connects to a "heater blower resistor" somewhere under the dash (as shown to the right of the firewall bulkhead connector): But there's no receiving connector...

    1965 Dodge Dart 270 wagon

Thank you! But I have one in poor condition, much like the one you replaced. Joe Suchy is looking for a good one so he can use it as a template to have it reproduced. He doesn't have anything at the moment. I think this must be Rubber Seals Australia - see post #568 in this thread. They...

Yes. Look at the picture that YOU took. PLEASE. That one.

    1965 Dodge Dart 270 wagon

There's this stuff from Rubber Seals in Australia, but it doesn't have the rubber flaps that fold over the channel, or the flat section on the ends. They propose to make identical replacements by the end of next year, but I can't wait that long. I'm really interested to know what you did...

Ulf, this is your photo. You said it needed replacing. What did you replace it with? Thanks Dan

Yes. The upper rubber weatherstripping in the channel into which the tailgate window rolls up.

Ulf, I quoted you in my post. Within that quote there is a link to a picture attachment. Click on that and you’ll see what I mean. Thanks Dan

Ulf, I know that PP&R was recommended to you, and that you said you checked but couldn't find anything on their site. (They are now defunct, apparently.) Did you find a repop? What was your resolution? And in particular... On my '63 Valiant V200 wagon, there is a rubber extrusion at the end...

Valiant V200 wagon - tailgate window weatherstripping

Do you have a P/N from their catalog, Don? I'd like to order for the lower, but also investigate as a substitute for the upper. The upper, of course, has a molded extrusion at the inside lower ends on each side; mine are intact, perhaps I could cut and glue them.

Valiant V200 wagon - tailgate window weatherstripping

Nope - I've got that wrong. I found the tailgate exploded diagram: The "run" (weatherstripping") for the upper and lower are here:

Valiant V200 wagon - tailgate window weatherstripping

Ah! I hadn't thought about that... I haven't had my tailgate apart yet. Of course, there must be material in those channels. Did you get those from Joe as well? I got my outer belt weatherstripping from Laysons (LAYSON'S RESTORATIONS - DODGE, CHRYSLER, PLYMOUTH RESTORATION PARTS). The...

Valiant V200 wagon - tailgate window weatherstripping

It's not the belt weatherstripping I need - I was able to find that. It's the channel weatherstripping for the glass around the upper perimeter. I know that Joe was hoping to find a piece in decent shape to reproduce, and I asked him recently if he had any luck. Here's his response:

Valiant V200 wagon - tailgate window weatherstripping

I know - unobtanium. I know that Joe Suchy has been looking for NOS or a piece in decent shape, from which he can reproduce; but no such luck. (I did buy the B Body lower weatherstripping from Joe, I adapt as others here have done.) What have folks done to replace? Is there anything that...

'63 Valiant horn cap center emblem

This is advertised on eBay as fitting a 64/65 Valiant, but it looks a lot like the one on my '63. Might it fit? Could they be the same?

    pulling to the right

Yes! A different diameter inner piston. I thought the difference would create the pull, but it didn't occur to me that the one side might be locking up. Thank you - hoping for the best!

    pulling to the right

An update... and a question. After the car sat overnight, I jacked up the front and tested the spin on the wheels; at first, I thought the tires weren't off the ground. But no, they were that tight! I took the car back to the mechanic, with a printout from the manual on how the brakes should...

    [WANTED] Axle Bearings and Seals

...and the gaskets (like the bearings and seals) show up under the '63 Valiant listing when I search for those P/Ns! I will go with it. Thanks! Dan

    [WANTED] Axle Bearings and Seals

Curious that the bearings turn up on search by P/N, but not for the vehicle! OK, I'll go with that. But... my '63 parts manual shows a different P/N for the gaskets (two for each side).

    [WANTED] Axle Bearings and Seals

Yes, they have them listed - but they also indicate that they are out of stock. Rock Auto is my first go to, but no help this go around.

    [WANTED] Axle Bearings and Seals

As far as I know, it's stock - everything else on this wagon is stock. And yes, for the Valiant/Dart for '63, there's only one stock option. Here's what my manual shows as P/Ns: Seal (there's just the inner): 2404 052, Qty 2 Gasket: 2070 997, Qty 4 Bearing: 2421 349, Qty 2
