Rotor for my SSBC A1531 conversion

I have had the SSBC 153 kit on my 70 Dart since 2005. One of the big reasons that I used it is it is designed to be used with stock 10 inch drum brake spindles so I didn't have to touch the spindles and beyond when I converted the brakes to disc. If that's what you need there are loads on...

    Vapor lock- additive?

I have beeb using Driven's Carb Defender to deal with other ethanol issues for many years. (Summit, Jegs, Amazon) Solved the carb corrosion issues. Ethanol attracts and bonds to water in the air and in your fuel. My understanding is that the ethanol actually evaporates less readily than the...

    Vapor lock- additive?

Well most of us are running mechanical pumps… And mechanical pumps are usually worse off in this metric since they put way more heat into the fuel than an electric pump. But to be honest I don’t think it’s a big problem either way. If you have an intake with the exhaust crossover blocked and...

First the horn started blowing on its own, Then the starter cranks when you push the clutch in! wtf help!!!!!!!!

I've had my clutch linkage short wires in the starter harness. I'd start by disconnecting the battery and then looking over all the harness for damage starting from the battery and working to the firewall.

    Anyone done a strong 400 build ?

True, unless you do some of the work yourself. But I completely agree some of the stroker kits are a very good deal. Our own @PROSTOCKTOM for example would be my go to were a big sack of cash to hit me in the head. I've always wanted to build a 400 based stroker and he'd be the guy to help me...

    Vapor lock- additive?

I solve the shutoff/hot soak/fuel boil/won't restart issue pretty basic. To shut the car off, I turn the fuel pump off and let the engine empty the carb until it stalls (maybe 30 seconds or so). With no fuel in the bowls, you get no vapor/boiling during the hot soak and thus no vapor lock or...

    Anyone done a strong 400 build ?

Using a 4.25" stroke crankshaft in a 400 block is really all the stroke you can, or should put in a 400 block. You just run out of available compression height for the piston with any more stroke at a 9.800 deck height. With a 4.375" bore that will yield 511 cubic inches. I don't know why...

Rotor for my SSBC A1531 conversion

That is the kit I put on my 69 Barracuda. I was getting a squealing noise that I thought was coming from the front (it wound up being a bad front U joint). I called SSBC and they told me that the rotors, bearings and calipers were 67-68 Mustang.

Besides being able to use some factory parts in the 451 the stroker kits all cost about the same price.

    61 Lancer /6 3spd in 61 Belvedere

I have a question about 61 3spd. I have located a 61 lancer with a 3spd manual/6 factory floor shift. Would this motor/trans work in 61 Belvedere or are they different? I believe they are both A745 trans?

    Vapor lock- additive?

Most modern issues with vapor lock are due to ethanol content. If you try some of the ethanol additives, you might have success. But I'll say this yet again. REAL vapor lock is extremely rare these days, because of all the additive packages already in gasoline.

    Ailing engine

Getting that much blow by makes me think head gasket. I didn't watch the video at first, but that looks like a good possibility. Light blue out the tailpipes could be valve stem seals or guides, seals usually will smoke at startup in my experience.

    Vapor lock- additive?

I daily drive my dart in the LA area. I run a carb spacer and drive enough that the stuff in the tank never goes bad (fill up whole tank with 87E10 every 7-10 days). I have not had any problems with vapor lock or percolation with this setup.
