Did you line up the spline properly ? Can you get the big washer and nut on ? How about the torque setting ? I can't remember what it is but it's in the service manual.
I always used an air cut off tool, very carefully around the studs to cut down the swedge. They come right off that way. With the new drum on, the wheel will hold it tight to the hub....
