'66 was a transition year for the Ranchero, it said FALCON, but many of the replacement parts had to come from the FAIRLANE parts book  that pedal cluster being one of them. :BangHead: made me and the parts guy at MoFoCo nutz many times for things like that

    La318 cylinder head question

What kind of numbers would I be looking for? I did compression test on the left bank where the valve issue is and on the three good ones got around 120 on each. (Not an expensive tester, so who knows if it’s accurate though)

My ‘66 Valiant Convertible at CTC Cars & Coffee

It’s my car. Yes the disc brakes were original equipment but I did get rid of the single reservoir master cylinder. The fender tag has the disc brakes on it.

    La318 cylinder head question

Not sure if AJ went here or not, but...... If it's not disassembled yet, do a compression test on the other cylinders. Might give a indication of what your working with.

How would you rebuild this 318?

IMHO If you are going to spend significant time out on the highway (60 - 80 mph) even with the OD 4 speed I would bet you will find the rpms a bit much Remind me what gears you have in it now...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

I put a 351W and C4 in my '66 Ranchero to make it more reliable for commuting to work 2 1/2 hrs away. Previously it had a rather peppy 289 and top loader 4 spd in it :steering: It would have been fun to get that 289 on a chassis dyno, it would burn the G60s through first and second and half...
