    Pilot bushing direction

You will have to verify the bore ID. If you broke one already, there's a good chance your crank is drilled, but not honed to the correct diameter to accept a Bronze bushing. The chamfer is a lead-in for the "press" operation. Standard engineering practice. Go to the manual transmission section...

School Me! Rope Style Oil Seal

IIRC, Doug Dutra has a very nice detailed write write up in his Slant Six book. The book came out after I had rebuilt my 225. Having said that, I'd use a neoprene anyway. Also less drag so you gain a little HP.

Look for cars in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. I notice a LOT of cars have been exported there. Personally, I've bought cars from CA,, TX,, NE and KC. Drove 2, shipped 2.

This may not help but the mounts go on the backside of the engine lugs.

The Saga of a Small Block Fan Shroud

I agree with Trapster. Radiator/shroud mounted to body. Fan/engine on rubber mounts. If you are sure of the shroud application, then maybe the next step is to verify the fan diameter.

    69 340 exhaust heat shield

I only remember a heat shield on the left side to protect the spark plug wires. It was on the engine when painted at the factory, as were the manifolds. The 2 69 340s I had were turquoise. I have the honor of buying the last 340 shield in nationwide parts inventory about 1981. Dealer counter...

Best carburetor rebuild kit for a 318 two barrel?

I buy from Daytona Carb based on recommendation from Daniel Stern. (slantsixdan) And they know carbs in and out. They use components that are resistant to modern gas.

Attend Spring Fling in Woodley Park in the Spring and Fall Fling in the Fall. You might be able to pick up some parts at the swap meet. Looks like Spring Fling is not happening this year though.

    Parts for 416 stroker

Yeah 4" for sure. He said that rag was pulled out. I'll know more when I see it in person but I'm thinking the oil pump drive may have broken and starved the engie of oil.

    Parts for 416 stroker

Young friend of mine bought a 73 Road Runner last fall. Survivor body but 340 was supposed to have been rebuilt. He ended up buying it for 12,500, about half of what the guy had it listed for. He drove it quite a bit for a weekend (he loved it) then it stalled suddenly at a traffic light. Engine...

    318 - 340 Same Torque??

It may be advantageous for manufacturers to advertise more power for their base engines, 225 and 318 for instance. But advantageous to advertise their performance engines lower to help out the racers, Hemi,440, 340. Note that a 340 is listed as 275 hp at 5000. Maybe true, but how much at 5500...

Rebuilt 318 Magnum. Is it a good deal?

Good deal for everything in the picture. Don't forget it is an external balance and your LA is most likely internal so you'll need correct damper, flex plate or flywheel.

    Vibrations...

Really need more info. What year and size of engine? At what vehicle and engine speed does the vibration occur? Is it at all engine speeds? Generally, cast crank engines need offset balanced flex plates, front damper, flywheel etc. Forged cranks are neutral balanced as are those mating parts.

Early 72 340, is this one of the de-tuned ones?

My best friend Rick, (RIP) ordered a new 1972 340 Duster, 3.23 SG, 4 speed. We took it to Dragway 42 early spring 1972 when it had about 5000 miles on it.. He only made one pass and it ran 14.51. That was pretty good for a totally stock 1972 car except for G70-14 Pokyglas tires on the rear. His...

Oh man, how embarrasing. (Uncle Tony/Nick's Garage)

His comments: We're exactly at the 200 thousandths. Then: The crank should be 2.5. If we Mic it and it measures 2.4 we know it's ten under. Made me LOL.

    273ci thoughts?

You really need to state what you intend to do with this car. Sure I run my cars down a dragstrip occasionally but the percentage of the total miles is far less than 1%. My observations... Adding power brakes wasn't necessary, adds weight and introduces more potential reliability issues. The...

Original 1968 Factory 340 Equipped With Hot Air Stove?

Yeah. No warm air stove to the carb in 1968. You must be restoring as you sure wouldn't need carb heat in Mexico.

Help me diagnose my miss over 4500rpm.

I believe the factory service manuals list the reluctor gap at .008 set with a non-magnetic feeler gauge. [Brass) What did you change since the last time it ran up to 6000 rpm's?

    EMC 2018 G3 build

You guys did pretty well for short notice! I'm thinking G3 for my 68 cuda. Easy 400 hp mostly stock for street driving. Over the years I think a lot of this after market latest fad type of sh** became popular to fix shortcomings of pennypinching GM stuff and it spilled over to the Mopar world. 318 Won't Start? And I tested as much as I could I think?

CHANGE THE PLUGS! If there was no joy even with starting fluid, it's most likely spark related. There was no reason to rotate the distributor 180* if everything was good before you stopped driving it. IIRC, at TDC, the rotor should point to the forward-most intake bolt on the driver side of the...

    '69 340 Questions

The 1406 carb is a good place to start, especially if you already have it. If you actually plan to drive the car a lot, not just to the ice cream store on weekends, that 509 cam may not be good for you in an otherwise stock engine. If it was me, I'd go with a Comp XE268 or one step smaller...

    340+ for the STREET

I'm convinced an OD trans is the best thing you can do for mileage. With all due respect, a 416 is going in the opposite direction And dont forget the extra $ for higher octane. I have a small block 68 cuda that gets 13-14 mpg w/ 3.23 gears. My /6 64 Val got 23.8 driving to Carlisle, also with...
