any ideas what this wire is for

Skimming back through your posts @canajien this is a modified '71 Duster. Can't help with the mods but can get you on a footing to understand the factory system. Old school underdash gage sets often included an ammeter, but not common now, and you certainly don't need or want two. I find it...

    Carter 4640SA Date Code Question

I have a Carter 4640SA AVS for a 69 440 with a date code of D1. I was under the impression that the number after the letter was for the year of manufacture. If that’s the case why would Carter be making a carburetor for a 1969 Chrysler vehicle in 1971?

    True compression is unknown. I have 180psi cranking with a Comp xe275hl cam. (231/237 @ .050) so I guesstimate it’s near 10:1 ish.

    Ignition switch questions

I keep trying to tell you guys NOT to do {rely} on this. Now, don't get me wrong, you may be right in this case. But PLEASE do not try and use continuity and ohm readings on high current circuits. "The usual" is, that it is way worse than continuity might suggest. In other words you...

[FOR SALE] Bucket seat tracks for parts/repair

I have a set of bucket seat tracks that I would like $100 for plus the shipping from 49341. These came on a set of a body buckets that I bought but the inner bracket on both sets does not have the locking mechanism and just free slides. I cannot confirm they are a body but they did bolt up to...

Last one to post in this thread wins!

Traffic is the same here 44 hwy to Whiteshell provincial park is bumper to bumper. Two lane hwy, a real zoo people trying to pass, it’s amazing more people aren’t killed. People fleeing the city to go to the city, less concrete but same amount of people, always made me scratch my head. Sitting...

Yeah, if you are seeing orange on the plugs you are using too much Torco. How much compression do you have?

    Torco and AFR

I haven’t pulled any yet. But when I used the Torco before it gave the plugs a reddish tint. I stopped using it because it made the plugs hard to read. Now that I have the tune pretty darn close IMO, I thought I’d toss some in just to see if there was any improvement. I haven’t made any hard...

'70 Dart 392 Project; what direction?

Ac lines and coolant lines are 98% done. Just need one more #10 90* for underdash and a few more hose clamps and need two radiator hoses and coolant system hardware is done. Rest of my wiring connectors and hardware should be here by Tuesday so next week I’ll be starting on the MS wiring.

    Bolt question

Fasteners are brandy new. Bolt kit came with a 'new' shifter adapter plate. Nary a mark on 'em. 7/32" isn't part of my (obviously) limited set. Another 'search' failure: I have Passon's book. I looked in the wrong place THERE for the information, too. Thanks Daves69!

On the Ford Ranger and the Ford Explorer are the wheel bolt patterns going to be the same as the one I'll get off a 73 through 76 Duster or dart?

The standard motor products NS-11T fits and works. One note, the nut is 1" and my 1" socket won't fit because the nut is so close to the tranny case. Had to tighten with a shorty wrench.

Ideally. Yes!!!! The engine I got the drain plug sealed, but still have some leaking further back when running - possibly the back of the valve covers but probably the rear main seal (yea - practically new engine) grrr. The transmission fluid I can't figure where its mostly coming from. A...

    Ignition switch questions

Yup my ignition switch is Ohmic. 32 Ohms from Ignition #2 to Brown to Red Power feed. This in all positions. Explains the 2.5V voltage was seen in the off state. Also Blue is Ohmic. Let’s see no fuse on these lines either. Thats a fire ready to go IMO……

Feel like I'm wasting a ton of time. I'm going to look at the failed mount more closely to see if my theory that oil and ATF is damaging the rubber is likely on right track. Permatex makes a spray sealer (RTV ?) that maybe would be a decent oil resistant coating.
