Is a deeper pan worth it?

I think I'm going to get the A&A one. (their website is **** though). I'm gonna have to call them to order because the site won't show shipping costs until I pay and that's not happening.

    Oil Light comes on.

I agree. I replaced the oil sending unit a few months ago as it was leaking. The car is leaking again but I don't think it's oil as the dip stick reads full. Going to put up on a lift tomorrow and see what's going on. Thanks for your help.

    Which transmission.

I always ran Type F in my 904 with never an issue. When I went to a 42RH, I wasn't sure, and F seemed harder to find so I went with Dexron,( lV...I think).

    Which transmission.

8 quarts seems about right for a full drain, converter and all. Most likely has plain old ATF. If iim not mistaken Dextron is an General Motors Trademark

    Oil Light comes on.

OK, proper oil light operation! Like RRR said, the light should ONLY come on when the key is on, motor is off (or, ugh, if you lose oil pressure for some reason). The light should go OUT when you start the car (within 2-3 seconds) and STAY out until you shut the car off (or lose oil pressure)...

I am so pissed I'm having to pull this transmission. Super pain in the butt....but cool weather to do it

    Which transmission.

Thanks. I'm assuming it has Dextron in it as it's a one owner car and didn't want to mix fluids. The owners manual says 16 pints capacity. I'm guessing that's the amount it takes when refilling it after a filter change?

    904 swap

In order to swap tail shafts you have to remove everything in the transmission. Might as well put new stuff back in.

How old are you and how long have you raced

Damn, I am impressed how old most of you are and how many are kicking *** at the races still! Young at heart is really the key to it all...keep pluggin away fellas, gives me motivation to get out there!
  19. TrailBeast

    Which transmission.

The new fluids are not necessary. Personally I run type F and have in every 904 or 727 as well as my 42rh. But you can run whatever makes you happy.

Why are classic 4 door sedans "disliked"?

4 door was your parents car 2 door was always the sport performance model. 4 doors were never cool they are popular now cause they are cheaper that will change if they get hyped up. Its the same old thing cars are drying up now wagons and 4 doors will be the rage...my commuter car is a 4 door...

    904 swap

So I now have two 904 transmissions, one from a passenger vehicle and one from a truck. I want to install one of these into my A-body. the truck 904 is usable but has the short tail shaft. The car 904 needs a rebuild before use. Is it feasible to swap tail shafts so I can use the truck 904...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

exactly. Like the #88 Buddy Baker test car that broke 200. Was sold to Don White and raced as a Daytona for a year, then turned into a 71 Charger for 2 years and pushed behind the shop. It is returned to Daytona and fully restored. How many are rebodied and nobody knows.
