    Column to Floor-shift ??'s

Hey ya'll, I'm back with a couple more *stoopid* questions. Current, original, set-up: 318, 904 column-shift, power steering Converting to console/floor-shift. Have acquired console, shifter and linkage. What I'm wondering is what to do about neutral safety/back-up switch? Currently...

Opinion poll: Best gauge lens removal method

Okay, the dash is out, and disassemled... to a point. I've located a few posts across the web in regards to removal of the the lenses. Couple of different methods have been spoken of. What's the best method of getting the lenses (and center pieces) removed from the bezel? [The BFH is not...

    wiring harness

Which harness? If it's the dash harness, there's really no "inexpensive" source that I'm aware of. If you gotta do it on the cheap, you might consider just repairing what you have. If it's a forward light/engine harness or rear light harness, Year One (Layson's, and others) have 'em in the...

    69 Barracuda Grill

Hey David, I know you're looking for '69 pieces, but you might want to take a look at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4561113367&category=34204&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1 It's not the prettiest, but the headlight bezels look usable. Could be a starting...

Parking brake cable retainers & grommets?

I've found an acceptable (to me) replacement grommet for the firewall to protect the parking brake cable. It's a Dorman rubber products #42064 PCV grommet, sold at Advance Auto Parts under the "HELP!" product line. Almost a perfect fit, and doesn't look too bad either. Really had to work to...

who's your aluminum trim restorer ?

Yeah, I'm in need of the same kind of work. Thinking that I may have to resort to doing it myself, though. Estimates I've been getting a just BIT too rich for my budget. ($550 for ONE grill/surround/headlight bezel...) Let me know if you come up with a good connection!

Parking brake cable retainers & grommets?

Have just gotten replacement cables for my Cuda and am now looking at all the retainers and grommets. The YearOne catalog has a firewall grommet listed, but the thing is 21 bucks! Is there an alternative? Also, does anyone know exactly what the set up is supposed to be where the front cable...

    "Transitional" setup

Yeah, it's funny, every day I get up and my dad (he's up visiting from Florida for a couple months...) asks me, "What direction have you decided to go in today?" Okay, so if my drum setup is functional, I can re-do the lines for now, then when I do the conversion I can replace the m/c...

    "Transitional" setup

Thanks for the info, OUTLAW. Have you gotten around to doin' the write up on your Scarebird conversion? I just got the specs from Scarebird and am almost positive that's the way I'll go. I don't know if my current wheel cylinders / drums / pads are still in good enough shape that I can live...

Oil leak around steering column at inside firewall

Haven't actually gotten into investigating what is exactly wrong, yet. I am still working through the "big picture", and what steps I want to take and in what order. (This kinda leads into a new thread which oughta be put into the Brakes forum, sorry...) Here's the new thread: Transitional...

    "Transitional" setup

I want to do a drum-to-disc conversion on the Cuda's fronts (the Scarebird way, I think), but am sticking on the idea of switching to a 5X4.5 setup for wheel availability. Right now, I just need to get it driveable, which means I have to replace all the brake lines, and make sure all the...

Oil leak around steering column at inside firewall

Yeah, the m/c rod boot had a little "puddle" in it and leaked down to the steering column. Didn't / couldn't see it at first. Obviously need to address that. Thanks for the input everybody.

Oil leak around steering column at inside firewall

Well, the Cuda's currently up on stands - I haven't even touched the brake pedal. So, I'll check that out tomorrow. Think it's a seal leak at the firewall, and is sneakily finding it's way down to the column?! Arrghh! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll post back, (prob'ly not til Wednesday)...

Oil leak around steering column at inside firewall

All right, check that. Been idling since 7:35p (so an hour plus) and I just had some drips. I'm pretty sure it IS brake fluid (thinner than oil, more acrid smelling - Dad even dabbed it on his tounge! HE says it's brake fluid). So, this is INSIDE, and there is no visible leakeage in the...

Oil leak around steering column at inside firewall

Okay, went out right after my last post and fired it up. Been about 30 minutes and the leak is not showing up again. Hmmmmm... Doesn't answer WHY it did in the first place, though. Still looking for ideas. Thanks.

Oil leak around steering column at inside firewall

Doesn't feel, look or smeel like brake fluid. And, besides, I have even touched the brake pedal! Any other thoughts?

Oil leak around steering column at inside firewall

Just managed to get my '68 Cuda running today after more than five years sitting (thanks to OUTLAW's help), and after running for about half an hour, checking things out, I discovered a leak up under the dash dripping onto the floorpan. It is comming from around the steering column (the column...

    Basic Igniton problem... no spark

Thanks for the quick reply, OUTLAW. But, nada. No blink on the test light, nothing grounded. I'm pretty sure I'm not even getting the coil firing INTO the distributor. Again, I've only got ~7.25 vdc at the positive side of the coil. Is that acceptable? Checking a couple other things -...

    Basic Igniton problem... no spark

Hey! New to this, so please bare with me... My '68 'Cuda 318 c.i. hasn't been started in about five years. I replaced the coil, ballast, points/condenser, cap & rotor, plugs & wires, fuel (drained tank) and fuel filter hoping that would be enough to get the old beast to fire, but nothing...
