    A Loss

Hello, I'm guessing this is where I should post this. This is Sue, the wife Matt may have mentioned on occasion. I am so sad to tell you that Slantsick passed away suddenly on January 28. He was the sweetest, most interesting person I have ever known, my heart and soul for almost 14 years, my...

    anybody seen this wine?

Yup- the variety store my wife managed a couple years back carried it.. I don't drink wine, but she brought me back one of the empty cartons. I think they're pushing it some calling the protruberances on the rear of a second-gen Valiant "fins"- still cool, though.

Damn, beat me to it. :-D I'd go with a white vinyl top.

Unwanted cars of the 70's. Post yours!

Not me- but then, my mom had it's twin (except for the wheels of course) when I was a kid- great car. Probably where my love for wagons started.

Unwanted cars of the 70's. Post yours!

Depends who you ask, I guess- I owned a '70 and a '73 Dart, both slant 6, both 4 door. That's a good thing to me, but lots of people seem to disagree. Closest thing I've owned that fits the bill was a two-tone grey '82 Fairmont 2-door sedan w/ the 2.3 four-cylinder- what a dog.

    I want this

Probably because they're awesome. The '66-'67 B-bodies are among the most handsome Mopes ever built, and wagons are inherently cool as all hell, so this is a win-win.

    67 Valient Signet Survivor.......

Assuming it's as solid underneath as what we can see, you'd be stealing it for anything under a grand, IMO- especially if it runs & drives. Here in New England, I'd be comfortable paying 2 for an A-body in that kind of shape.

    ramcharger wheels

While I must admit a fondness for the giant chrome frisbee caps you described- my parents had an '84 Ram B350 van w/ those same caps for years and years... steelies and dogdishes is always the right answer. I'd leave them the color they are, too.

A mopar on its way home

    That's a '72 Fury- one of my favorite C-bodies.

    Ahhh Snow in August.

Don't worry- that hurricane will have to spend the day before it gets to you chewing up the Maine coast.. all that Massachusetts-owned beachfront property oughta satisfy it. If not, a platoon of amateur Maine humorist-historians (anybody over 25, in other words) will hop in our rusty '78...

    God is taunting me...

It's not just a MI thing, it's a ME thing too.. I bought a '73 Dart when I was 17 that had worse quarters than that- and this was in 1993. Left to my own devices I probably would've just goobered the hell out of it with bondo, but my mom's cousin (he owned a '70 Swinger 340 at the time) came up...

    ABodyBetty's new baby comes home!!!

I find doing bodywork and (especially) paint to be a very effective "bucket of cold water" poured over my natural inclination to perfectionism. I just don't have the skills (or disipline) to do as nice a job as I want to, so I end up with paint runs covering glops of bondo by the time I'm done...

    Charging Problem??????

Sounds like two problems to me, a bad bulb and/or ground in the blinker, and a bad voltage regulator.

    The Blonde Road Painter

Rest assured, I meant no offense.. there's a healthy dollop of French-Canadian in my bloodline, on both sides- including the dyed-in-the-wool Yankee grandpa I originally heard this joke (and many others) from. Hell, you wanna talk conflicted- my wife is from *gasp* Massachusetts.

    The Blonde Road Painter

Ha! Up here in Maine, that's a classic "dumb Frenchman" joke.. haven't heard it since my grandfather passed away.

    71 valiant question

It may well bolt on, it may even latch.. but, "fit"? No. The lines of the two cars are quite different when it comes to the shape of the nose.

    What's Up???

I was just about to dispatch the team of St Bernards with kegs of Schlitz and 20w50 to find you and your "lesser half".. I need my fix of four-door Dart posts; it's been almost a month. Hope you keep in touch- we do miss you guys.

ROOSTER COGBURN IS BACK!!!! sort of....

Well, generally I'd say I'm against "remakes", especially of movies that were about as good as they could be in their time. And I'm a huge John Wayne fan. But, this is a Coen brothers movie (Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, etc.), so you can rest easy it's not gonna be some...

    one hit wonders

Love this song. "Come On Eileen" may have been the only "hit" from Dexy's- I think it was used in a John Hughes movie or something -but that whole album (Too-Rye-Ay) is fantastic. Likewise, Men At Work ("Who Can It Be Now?"/"Down Under") got thought of as something of a novelty band, but...

'92 F150 Digital odo gone haywire

"Service"? "Resale"? :sign5: She should get more "service" than she does, but we're not selling her under any circumstances.. when this truck finally gives up the ghost in a non-repairable way, she's welcome to quietly rot away in the front yard until she completely disintegrates- I'm not gonna...

    the perfect slant 6 burnout

Another sign that I'm old, I guess- I've never heard that term.. we just call 'em "rollbacks"- the result of a rollback is a nice "J strip". And I did put in the transmission explosion disclaimer... It's best to practice this maneuver in a vehicle you don't care about, like a GM product that's...

    the perfect slant 6 burnout

Wait for rain. Or snow- both my slant 6 Darts spun the tires like a sunovabitch in the snow. Powerbraking works- the throttle on my '73 used to stick sometimes when I was running around town; by the time the light went green the brake pedal would snap up like it'd been fired from a gun and...

    1969 Plymouth Valiant 2 door

Why am I not surprised in the least that it's green? Awesome score. Mind if I ask what you paid? Just curious how the price compares to what I was quoted at the junkyard on the one I found. ($120, plus pulling it, stripping it, and shipping it- seemed steep to me, but whadda I know..)

'92 F150 Digital odo gone haywire

Kind of a long shot, but I know a few of you guys own /owned Ford trucks in the same age-range as mine, so maybe one of you guys has experienced something similiar.. OK- basically, a few months ago I glanced down at the F150's odo, which read 261,8xx. A week later, it read 261,6xx. I figured I...

bury my heart at wounded knee book

Good point.. of course, the natives were "savages" while us white guys were supposed to be "civilized".. It's in our very nature as primates, though- even chimpanzees and gorillas engage in "politics" within their own societies, often with bloody results. A couple more books to get aggravated...

    cool steering wheel lol

Ha! First thing I thought of, too.. When I bought my first Dart, I thought that hornring on the 3-spoke wheel was the coolest thing ever- until that February, driving around at night with no heater.. I'd probably make a shop clock out of it. In any case, if I saw that wheel at a yardsale for 5...
