Powr-Lok swap questions in 741 case.

yep, it is a good idea to replace the pinion bearings while out if you don't know when they were last changed. (Although I have run used ones before as well.) The pinion takes more load and spins faster than the carrier bearings. If running 3.55 gears, the pinion spins 3.55 times for each one...

    1967 440 Barracuda

Jim, is that a B or an RB? It also depends on valve covers, I tried some aluminum ones but they would not fit, my stamped steel are a bit shorter and fit fine though.

    1967 440 Barracuda

RB in a barracuda, you will most likely need to change the heater motor (Napa has a smaller diameter and shorter one) and if you have power brakes, your booster may hit the valve cover in the driver side.

Advice small block K frame with Schumacher conversion mounts for a big block

I originally wanted to drop mine in from the top as well, but followed advice on this forum and dropped the k-frame instead. On the plus side, you don't need to take the hood off! Mine is a RB though, so taller than a B engine.(would hit heater motor and brake booster) I can't speak to dropping...

Powr-Lok swap questions in 741 case.

you are not disturbing the pinion depth so, you should be fine setting the backlash correct and checking the pattern. I have done a few that way. You may check the pattern before you pull it apart, take some good pics, and compare once you get it all back together.

Advice small block K frame with Schumacher conversion mounts for a big block

I put the engine and trans combo with the headers on already onto the k-frame and then lowered the car onto it.

Grill Question- It's that time of year!

country style pork ribs (or go get carnitas, less fat!) cut into chunks no larger than 1 1/2" thick, however long. Cook on my Weber with Mesquite lump charcoal (Lazari brand is what I get here) and then glaze with honey-mustard sauce made from 1/2 honey and 1/2 Stone ground Mustard (I use...

    I bought me a Cushman

it depends on the rear end ratio. Most with the skinny tires were high ration for the street and most with fat tires low ratio rear for the turf and also had a 2 speed granny box between the rear and tranny (golf courses and parks). I used to have 5 or 6 at one time (rented them out for Seafair...

    Any Spray paint tips

also depends on the temperature where you are spraying. As a general rule, lacquer does not lay down wet, you need to cut and buff it. Also, there are different thinners to use depending on the temperature (some evaporate faster than others). As was said, practice on an old panel... I would try...

    stumped....

you can get 4 1/2" diameter cutoff wheels for your angle grinder from Harbor freight. They do a pretty good job cutting through 1/4" material. You could mark your cut and put the metal in a vise and make the cut with the grinder. (My dad uses those a lot... I started using them a year ago and it...

    Where's my socket?

So... last night, I was sealing up valve covers and dropped my socket when tightening the rear bolt on the drivers side. Any suggestions....

maybe powdercoating with a satin finish? Or is that more of a brushed finish? I can't tell from the pic. Either way, if you take steel wool to the chrome to get the brushed finish, unless you put a clear satin over it, it will rust (unless it is actually stainless)

    440 piston compresson height question

Bob, I already have the steel shim gaskets in it now..... reading, it looks like 1 point is ~4% increase in HP.... not sure about torque... so, if the 440 is putting out 350hp, it would be a ~14hp increase. If 400 HP, then ~16hp increase... If I do that, I may need to look at swapping out the...

    440 piston compresson height question

Thanks, I am aware of the work and needing to have it balanced, and I already have the MP steel shim gaskets in it. By an increase of one point, do you mean like going from 8:1 to 8.1:1 or from 8:1 to 9:1?
