Manual sbp front disc conversion feedback

I've been eyeballing that set up as well. do you have any input as to what to use for a MC and proportioning valve?

Manual sbp front disc conversion feedback

Thanks for the excellent feedback folks. If there's any other suggestions, I'm all ears. I'd really like to use the wheels I have to avoid spending another $800 to $1000 on new wheels.

Manual sbp front disc conversion feedback

I'm looking for some feedback from anyone who's used this conversion kit, or recommendations for a manual disc kit that won't break the bank and retains the small bolt pattern. 1966-74 Dodge Dart Mopar A-Body Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit for 5x4 Bolt Pattern & Manual Brakes

It's going to be close, but should have about 1" clearance. I'll know for sure once it's dropped into the engine bay.

Look what finally showed up yesterday!

A fuel pump away from complete. Those old Commando valve covers have a lot of time into them. I didn't realize how rare/expensive they are these days. Mine were pretty beat up, but when I saw the prices on old Commando valve covers, I decided to restore them.

Alright fellas, I formulated a plan today. Being that I'm a painter/glazier by trade, I have plenty of scraps of Lexan kicking around. I'll make a template out of Lexan to have a new mounting bracket cut out on the plasma cutting table at the welding lab at the college where I work. I spoke to...

Harmonic damper/crank pulley-Interchangeable parts issue or manufacture defect?

The car was originally built by a friend of mine with various parts and pieces. The pulley is likely from a '68 318 or 273.

Harmonic damper/crank pulley-Interchangeable parts issue or manufacture defect?

Alright folks, here we go with silly questions from polarman again. So I installed the harmonic damper on my new BPC4083CT engine the other day. I pulled the crank pulley from the old 318 and took it to work to paint it up. I got home to install it, and no matter how I clock it, all 6 bolt holes...

Bear in mind that the alternator mounting is a work in progress. There's a separate thread on that elsewhere in the forum...

The clearance issue is in the first pic I posted in this thread, and that was at the max of the tension adjustment in the stock mounting location. Can you kindly share your set up? FYI, I'm running the pre 70 water pump because the lower radiator hose would be on the wrong side of the pump if I...

It's the set up that was on the engine that was in the car, but the original iron 340 X heads sat more flush with the block whereas the aluminum heads have a bit of an overhang, hence the clearance issues. Push comes to shove, I work at a university with a welding program. They have a CNC plasma...

I don't know man. The water pumps appear identical other than the new on having an extra port on top. The alt and water pump pulleys line up well. I tried a single crank pulley that won't work, so I have to snag the double crank pulley off the old engine.

That is a very valid point that I had not considered one bit. It never even crossed my mind, but you're absolutely right. Thanks for your input!!

Inching closer to a complete engine. The lack of funds makes this a slow process, but all I have left to buy is a fuel pump, distributor, wires, a belt, motor mounts, and maybe little odds and ends. Being that the HP exceeds the 1968 Hemi, I painted it Hemi orange. And I don't feel guilty one bit.

Getting closer. I'm down to a fuel pump, T stat, distributor, wires and motor mounts. Poverty sucks, so I'll buy a part at a time as I can. Thanks for the helpful replies!

I took my Gran Torino to a car show on Saturday, and as luck would have it there was a 69 Barracuda that has Edelbrock aluminum heads and the stock alternator brackets. The fix is so simple that I felt kind of stupid. Instead of mounting the adjuster to the inner lower hole on the bracket, you...

    Alternator bracket pic request

I tore it back down last night to paint some parts before final assembly. It's a single pulley unit as my car is bare bones. Just a water pump and alternator. When I put it back together, I'll push it all the way to the end of the adjuster to see if it misses the head. If that's the case, a...

Right. Silly me. It was a 68 318 with 340 heads, now it's a BP 408 stroker built from an early 90s 360 with Edelbrock aluminum heads. I got it on, and it looks like it will line up okay, but the alternator touches the cylinder head. I don't like that.

It may be an issue with the Edelbrock heads, they don't sit flush with the block like the cast iron heads did.

Hey folks. I'm at the stage where I'm mocking things up on the new engine to get it ready for the Dart. It tore this apart over 9 years ago, and I took pictures but the low quality of them makes it hard to see. Can someone kindly post some pictures of the alternator brackets , spacers, and...

A carter style Edelbrock 1407. I have the old double pumper that was originally on the engine when my buddy built it for a back-up, but I'm not a fan of them and their leaky fuel bowls and the gas all over the intake when you want to change things.

Thanks for the supportive replies. Yes, this is the 445 hp rated 408. From what I understand 445 hp is the minimum targeted HP rating, so any engine that meets or exceeds that gets shipped. I'm a painter by trade, so I kinda had to change the color myself. You can easily run into adhesion...
