    Passon Performance 5-speed

That is something to consider. I have 535 lb/ft of torque. The 855 is supposed to take 600+. I did use GL4 80w90 conventional in my 833. It is a junkyard trans that I never rebuilt and I took it down the strip at least 200 times without issue. I would think that 75w90 would be ok in the 855, but...

    Passon Performance 5-speed

Thanks Jim. When you get it out, let me know how the 75w-90 works. I'll add the rest of the bottle and see what happens. I know what the great white north is like. I lived in Michigan for 39 years! Roger

    Passon Performance 5-speed

Jim, my transmission shifts great when warm with 75w-140 Lucas trans and diff but it is impossible to shift when it is cold, even 60 degrees. I start out in the morning and I can shift through the gears just fine at a standstill, but as soon as the car moves, I can't shift it into any other...

Any hot tips on replacing gas tank filler tube grommet?

I had to soak mine in boiling water to make it more flexible. Don't burn your fingers when you take it out.

    problem

If these are parts have not been previously bolted together, I would guess that you have a transmission with a 4.80 inch diameter bearing retainer and you are trying to put it into a bell housing with a 4.35 inch opening (see brian6pac post 3). You may luck out and find that the previous owner...

[Found!] A-body pass side motor mount 67-72

The 318 and 340 mounts on the passenger side are the same width but the 340 driver's side is 3/8" narrower. In the picture above, my 340 mount is on the left. Some people use the 318 mount on a 340 and put washers in to fill the gap.

Is there a difference application for these 2 clutch forks?

The one in my SB Duster looks like the one pictured except it has doesn't have the hole drilled in it because the end broke off. The slot is for a spring mount. The spring goes from the clutch fork to the z bar to keep the adjustable rod snug against both sides. I don't know about the other...

Bell to trans bolts. Grade 5 or 8 ?

I just went out and checked mine. The bottom 2 are grade 5 (3 lines) but I can't see the top ones. I have 535 ft-lbs of torque and launch at the dragstrip at 4000 rpm with drag radials so I think you're good!

Clutch disc preferences for street driven small block 4 speed

I have a dual friction centerforce clutch in my 416 with 510 HP and 535 ft-lbs torque at the flywheel. I have 4.10 gears with MT ET streets. The clutch works great on the street but I have dead hooked at the drag strip several times and the clutch slipped. After each slip I had to re-adjust my...

[WANTED] 8 3/4 rear end for 66 Dart

I have a 489 4.10 out of my 70 duster. I rebuilt it a year ago with new gears, bearings and a new clutch style sure grip. I also replaced the crush sleeve with a solid pinion spacer. It has yukon axles with green bearings. The axles are about 7 years old and are 4.5 x 5. The housing is stock...

    Shop Press

I have the 12 ton from Harbor Freight. I've used it for bearings etc and it works just fine. I keep it in a corner and pull it out when I need it. You just need to be sure it's on a flat surface. It's the only one I have ever used so I have nothing to compare it to but I like it.

    Clutch Return Spring-Easy Question

My 70 duster has a slot on the TOP of the clutch fork where the spring sits in. The other end was hooked into a hole drilled into the ball stud bracket. I don't think that was the way it originally. I think the purpose is to keep the adjustable linkage from falling out of the clutch fork if...

    Opinions on fiberglass parts quality

To make a L O N G story short, unlimited products was unlimited grief for me. I bought a six pack hood for my Duster. The holes for the hinges were in the wrong place and it closed on the cowl of my car. There was also a ridge on the front lip as well as a slight bow from front to back. It would...

    Bellhousing Experience Quicktime vs Lakewood

I don't know about a big block but here is what I ran into with my quicktime small block. I used the ring adaptor to convert the 5.125 hole to the smallest hole (4.35?) and it worked fine. I used my stock clutch fork but the pivot that came with the bell housing was too thick and in the wrong...

Gas Tank/sump - will it pass tech?

You guys got me thinking about a lot of different scenarios. Thanks for all of your inputs and amusing pictures. Wheelies, flat tires, and broken axles. I'm not worried about wheelies since I can't even pull up a tire (best 60 foot 1.7). With bare 15" rims on the car the sump clears the ground...

Gas Tank/sump - will it pass tech?

Here is a picture of my tank & sump. I put the bottom dowel at the base of the tires and ran a second one from that dowel to the base of the bumper. There is about 1.25 inches of clearance even though it looks like more on the pic. Zhanfull, do you know any techs that would answer an email or...

Gas Tank/sump - will it pass tech?

I welded a Competition Engineering sump in my gas tank. The tech inspector at my local track told me it needs to be inside the frame. He let me race (street legal drags) and a couple guys in line around me told me my setup was ok after he left. I looked up the rule and it says the fuel tank...

    a833 problem

A bad throw out bearing will make a lot of noise when you press in the clutch, but it will still disengage the clutch unless the clutch fork isn't attached to the bearing (broken wire clips) and the bearing binds.

    a833 problem

It could be a lot of things. Your clutch may not be disengaging because a)you aren't stepping the clutch down far enough b)the clutch linkage is bent, binding, or out of adjustment or c)your clutch is warped. it could also be your shifter linkage. First be sure the nuts on the studs that hold...

    Quicktime Bellhousing Issues

I had the same problem with my quicktime bellhousing. The supplied pivot didn't line up in the groove of the clutch fork. I finally installed the original pivot from my old bellhousing backwards and it lined up perfectly. I'm not happy with quicktime. I spent an enormous amount of time and...

    7260 slip yoke to 1350

I broke my 7260 u joint, so I had a new 1350 drive shaft made. The shop put a slip yoke on the new drive shaft that is much shorter. The splines inside each are the same length but the original 7260 yoke has about 3 inches in the front that have no splines. Will the new one work? This is on an...
