    Hey from Redmond, OR

Anyone who goes to the Redmond swap meet like I did again this year would have to admit it got to be the beautiful place there is to have one. For those that go there the surrounding view is incredible. Welcome Paul and good luck with your new prodject.

    Temp guage

Went to put an Auto Meter temp guage probe into my Edelebrock SP-2 and the tip bottoms out and doesn't leave but three threads to hold it in place which isn't nearly enough in my opinon. My question is if I raise it up with some kind of longer pipe nipple and a reducer it will make the probe sit...

    Going To Springfield This Weekend??

I went and your Dart deserved any award they had in my totally biased opion. That is one fine looking car you have. There were twice as many Mopar's there than the Klamath Falls show I went to the week before. The only bad part was the '37 Plymouth street rod that had a (I hate to say it) bowtie...

    intake bolt sealer

Duh! I put pipe thread on all kinds of threads and then I don't think to put it on the bolts. My only excuse is I'm about ready to retire. The RTV is for the ends. It's suppose to be a 100 degrees for the next couple of days so it should cure FAST. Thanks.

    intake bolt sealer

What do you think is the best sealer to use on intake bolts. I used clear silicone the last time and it didn't work very well. I'm replacing the intake on my 360 and would like to hear what you use. Also is it better to use black RTV instead of the cork gaskets? Thanks.

    Best water pump choice

Looks like I'd have to order an 8 blade one. No one around Eugene has one that I've found. AutoZone has them online and I'll check Summit for an after market. Going to a cruise in Klamath Falls, Oregon next weekend and it's been around 100 deg. Hope it cools off. Thanks for the input.

    Best water pump choice

What's your opinion about the best water pump to use for a weekend cruiser? Does an 8 blade or six blade stock pump work best from your experiance on a mild cam 360 and stock 22" radiator (new)? Are after market pumps better? Thanks for your answers.

    my findings on home sandblasting

The green nickel slag comes from a worked out nickel mine by Roseburg, Oregon. They might produce in other parts of the country. Anyway it's sold at masonary supply store in Springfield, Oregon so that might be a good place to look where you are.

    front end rebuild

Thanks Aaron I'll check in on that. Hope mine comes out half as good.

    front end rebuild

Nice job. I'm getting ready to put disc brakes from a 74 Dart on my 72 Valiant. I never tried replacing upperconrol arm bushings before. Did you have someone press them in and out for you or can that be done yourself? Thanks

Trans cooler lines! where to get em?

I'm using hose for most of the way. I tried trans cooler hose from a local auto store and it blew out within five miles. Paid a lot more at NAPA but I've never had anymore trouble with it.

    Torque convertor question

Thanks everyone. It's a 998 alright. I read they had trouble with the early ones. People would shim the solenoid to eliminate the lock-up and it would be okay. Does anyone know when they started using this trans? I've got a 360/904 out of a 79 Newport but now I'm wondering if it's a 904 or a 998.

That one made be laugh. Thanks Chief. You know those Dodge boys were always ahead of their time.

    Macco or miricle paint?

Took mine in last week to see what they thought it would take to paint. The guy in Eugene seamed really competent and didn't over sell. Looked at an $800 job on a Honda that looked great. He said they used a single stage paint and added clear on the final coat. I wonder if that's good or not...

    Torque convertor question

My buddy changed out the tranny in his 1918 Dodge Brothers bucket this weekend. He got a rebuilt 904 from a guy who retired and closed his shop. He got a new TC and when he went to install it the splines aren't the same. So could the trans be a 998 with the lock-up or maybe just the wrong TC...

    Tire size

Hi guy's, I'm going to disc brakes and an 8 1/4 on my 72 Valiant. I plan on using 15 X 7 Cop car wheels for now. I like to know what's the best tire size to use. I've got a nice set of 235-60's I plan on using on the rear but they look to big for the front to me. Just like to know what you've...

    8 1/4 rearend

I just bought one in Klamath Falls, Or. for $150 that was complete. Around Eugene or Portland for a non-surgrip they've been asking $200-350. Good luck.

    Water pump question

Does anyone know why they list a eight blade pump for a 360 with a two barrel but a 360 four barrel is a six blade pump? Shouldn't an eight blade push more water than a six blade? I bought a new pump for a 360 with A/C and it's got six blades so I was just curious. Thanks

    Rear bumper

At the Portland Swap Meet Friday I had a chance to buy a re-chromed bumper for a 73 Dart. I passed on it because I didn't know if it would fit my 72 Valiant. I've been looking at some pics on ebay and it looks like I passed up a good deal. Does anyone know if they interchange? We went to the...

    Bumper swap

Hi, I'd like to replace the bumper on my 72 Valiant for one off a Dart. I like the looks of the Dart bumper. Has anyone done this and how hard is it? I would think if you had all the pieces it would be a bolt on. We're heading for the Portland swap meet in an hour, maybe I'll find a treasure. Thanks

    AutoZone online

I'll look around at the other places suggested. I've got some time. Another one that get's me is Schuck's. I've been in there a couple of times wearing my Summit hat and they freaked out. They had two women working there that were really good. Both must have been to good and left. I'd probably...

    AutoZone online

Thanks. It seems like you only have a 50/50 chance sometimes even when you go to the parts store. Most of the one's around the Eugene/Springfield Oregon area never have the same people two month's in a row. There's still one that uses PART'S BOOKS! No computers for them and they are usually...

    AutoZone online

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if ordering parts from AutoZone online is a good idea? I'm replacing the ball joints, bushings and tie rod ends on the disc brake set-up going on my 72 Valiant and they quoted prices a lot cheaper than the local store. The guy at the store didn't have a...

    Drive shaft length

Thanks Chuck, Good thing the drive shaft was gone or I'd pay for something that wouldn't work. One other thing. This rear end is almost 2" narrow than my 72. Does anyone know if 15" cop car wheels work okay with this set-up? I can get four of them from a friend. I was wondering if the back...

    Drive shaft length

Mr.7Duster3, The drive shaft I've beem using for my car (360/904) was the same one for the six because I'm still using the 7 1/4. I did some more reading and in looks like you can't swap a drive shaft from a Duster into a Valiant because the wheel base is 108" for the Duster and 111" for the...

    Drive shaft length

Thanks. I remembered I had a book titled Chrysler Muscle Car parts interchange manual. If it can be trusted it said the length was 48.89 for Dart Sport, Valiant, except Scamp or Brougham models. For some reason the wheel base must be different. Maybe I'll get lucky and find one in a "Recycle...

    Drive shaft length

I bought a 8 1/4 to replace the 7 1/4 in my 72 Valiant last weekend. I swapped out the six for a 360/904 a year ago. I have some nice looking small bolt pattern wheels I really liked but it's time to move up to the better rear end and disc brake's I have. Unfortunately the donor car didn't have...
