    Temp guage

Went to put an Auto Meter temp guage probe into my Edelebrock SP-2 and the tip bottoms out and doesn't leave but three threads to hold it in place which isn't nearly enough in my opinon. My question is if I raise it up with some kind of longer pipe nipple and a reducer it will make the probe sit...

    intake bolt sealer

What do you think is the best sealer to use on intake bolts. I used clear silicone the last time and it didn't work very well. I'm replacing the intake on my 360 and would like to hear what you use. Also is it better to use black RTV instead of the cork gaskets? Thanks.

    Best water pump choice

What's your opinion about the best water pump to use for a weekend cruiser? Does an 8 blade or six blade stock pump work best from your experiance on a mild cam 360 and stock 22" radiator (new)? Are after market pumps better? Thanks for your answers.

    Torque convertor question

My buddy changed out the tranny in his 1918 Dodge Brothers bucket this weekend. He got a rebuilt 904 from a guy who retired and closed his shop. He got a new TC and when he went to install it the splines aren't the same. So could the trans be a 998 with the lock-up or maybe just the wrong TC...

    Tire size

Hi guy's, I'm going to disc brakes and an 8 1/4 on my 72 Valiant. I plan on using 15 X 7 Cop car wheels for now. I like to know what's the best tire size to use. I've got a nice set of 235-60's I plan on using on the rear but they look to big for the front to me. Just like to know what you've...

    Water pump question

Does anyone know why they list a eight blade pump for a 360 with a two barrel but a 360 four barrel is a six blade pump? Shouldn't an eight blade push more water than a six blade? I bought a new pump for a 360 with A/C and it's got six blades so I was just curious. Thanks

    Rear bumper

At the Portland Swap Meet Friday I had a chance to buy a re-chromed bumper for a 73 Dart. I passed on it because I didn't know if it would fit my 72 Valiant. I've been looking at some pics on ebay and it looks like I passed up a good deal. Does anyone know if they interchange? We went to the...

    Bumper swap

Hi, I'd like to replace the bumper on my 72 Valiant for one off a Dart. I like the looks of the Dart bumper. Has anyone done this and how hard is it? I would think if you had all the pieces it would be a bolt on. We're heading for the Portland swap meet in an hour, maybe I'll find a treasure. Thanks

    AutoZone online

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if ordering parts from AutoZone online is a good idea? I'm replacing the ball joints, bushings and tie rod ends on the disc brake set-up going on my 72 Valiant and they quoted prices a lot cheaper than the local store. The guy at the store didn't have a...

    Drive shaft length

I bought a 8 1/4 to replace the 7 1/4 in my 72 Valiant last weekend. I swapped out the six for a 360/904 a year ago. I have some nice looking small bolt pattern wheels I really liked but it's time to move up to the better rear end and disc brake's I have. Unfortunately the donor car didn't have...

    Timing tape

Okay, be kind on this one. I bought a Mopar Performance timing tape and I want to make sure I put it on right. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Do you line up the TDC mark on the damper and then follow it around? Was I mistaken this was what I needed to show total timing? Thanks

    Vacuum port

Have a question about connecting the vacuum advance. Do all small block electronic distributors connect to the Timed Vacuum outlet on an Edlebrock carb? I'm assuming they do but I just want to make sure. Also I have overheating problems at idle and a local radiator shop owner has looked at it...

    Head gasket

When I put the heads back on my 360 I used the head gaskets from a set I'd bought at a swap meet. I was in a hurry and they'd only fit if I flipped one over. Anyway the motor runs fine but I can't keep it from over heating at slow speeds. I've tried new radiator, shroud, electric fan, timing...

    Temp sensor location

Does anyone know if it makes a difference in how a temperature guage reads by where it's placed in the intake manifold? I have a Edelbrock Performer and installed it next to the water neck instead of the stock location. I know I'm really reaching on this but after changing the termostat, water...

Using an electric fan as a pusher

Hi everyone. Is anyone using an electric fan as a pusher on a 72 Valiant or Dart? I have a good 16 in. fan but it's close to 4 inches thick and it hits the support for the hood latch. Would like to know if one off another car has worked for you. Summit has one that's only 2.25 in. thick but only...

    Another overheating question

Okay, my frustration level is higher than my temp gauge! Replaced my six with a 360 out of a Newport which I drove and ran cool. Now it goes to 220 at idle. I replaced the water pump, radiator (22 inch), thermostat and hoses and no luck. Will run at 180 deg. at 55 mph fine. The fan blade's...

    Anyone using a truck radiator?

A radiator warehouse has a 3 core 22 inch for a 72 pick-up for only $15 more than the stock one for my Valiant. The only difference I can see is that it is an 18X22 instead of 17X22. Some quick measuring makes it look like it would be to tall but I was hoping someone else had good luck using one...

    Rear Main seal

Hi everyone. I found the dreaded oil spot under the car this weekend. The engine had sat for two years before I swapped into my Valiant 3 months ago. It's a 360 out of a 79 Newport. Can the rear main seal be changed without pulling the motor? I replaced the oil pump and pan gasket. Is there...

    Using 6 A/C radiator

Hi everyone. Has anyone been able to use the 22 in. radiator from an A/C six on a 360? From what I read it looks like it's the same radiator that was used on V8 models in 1972. It's a two core but did they make a three core? The guy at the radiator shop thought it would be okay but I'd like to...

    What's your RPM?

Swapped out my six for a 360 out of a Newport. I'm still using the 7 1/4 until I win the Lottory (at the price for a 8 3/4 I'll need to). Anyway at sixty I'm turning 3 grand. Is that about right? Have a 904 and I'm guessing a high ratio third member. I'm so use to the overdrive's it sounds high.

    Trans cooler line rupture

Could someone give me answer to why my trans cooler line ruptures. Finally got my 72 Valiant on the street today afetr swapping out the six for a 360 out of a 79 newport. I tried to use the orignal hard lines put they won't work so I ran hose made for aftermarket coolers. The first time as soon...

    Throttle cable difference?

I swapped my six for a 360. I've been working through the problems that come up but I thought I'd read the throttle cable for the six would work. It looks way to long, so is there a difference between the six and the V8 cars? I'm using the Thermo-quad with a Edelbrock Performer manifold. Thanks...

    Radiator hose help

Found a Dart on Ebay that had swapped the six for a 318. I didn't need the car but it had just the radiator hose to fit my six a/c radiator to my 360. He hadn't swapped the motor so he sent me the numbers. Would anyone know what #'s RW30924496BM / AU1242B would match too? It might be a BB hose...

    Summit cam

Hi. First time I've tried this so I hope I don't mess up. I'm in the process of putting a 360 in my 72 Valiant. The motor was in good shape so I change the intake, got headers and installed a Summit 276/286, 441 lift cam and double roller timing set. I read in Mopar Action that it was a good...
